The Florida Panthers will look to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals when they face the Boston Bruins in Game 5 on Tuesday, May 14.

The Panthers earned their third consecutive win in the form of a 3-2 victory over the Bruins in Game 4. An early 2-0 Boston lead wasn’t an issue as Florida scored three unanswered goals — including two in the third period — to emerge with the win and a 3-1 series lead.
Does Boston have what it takes to live to fight another day? Or will Florida find a way to kickstart the visitor’s offseason?
Let’s answer those questions — as well as my favorite NHL Game 5 bets — as we dive into my Bruins vs. Panthers predictions and picks.

Bruins vs Panthers NHL Game 5 Predictions & Pick (5/14)
It’s do-or-die for the Bruins, who must win tonight to keep their postseason hopes alive. It looked like they were capable of handling the Atlantic Division leaders after winning Game 1, but that might not be the case now that the Panthers have won the last three matchups.
Much like in the series against the Toronto Maple Leafs, a lack of goal-scoring has hurt the Bruins. They’ve scored five total goals in the last three games, equating to 1.7 per contest. They also failed to score more than a pair of goals in each contest, meaning they’ve finished with two or fewer goals in seven of their 11 playoff games thus far.
The majority of Boston’s top players have failed to show up in the last three games. Morgan Geekie, Pavel Zacha, James van Riemsdyk, and Brad Marchand each failed to find the back of the net during that stretch.
Speaking of Marchand, the Bruins will be without their captain tonight as he’s sidelined with an upper-body injury. For reference, Boston went 12-12 SU in the last 24 games that the 36-year-old has missed.
Brad Marchand (upper body) won’t be playing for the Bruins in Game 5.
On the other hand, the Panthers haven’t had any issues scoring, racking up 15 goals since the beginning of Game 2. Six Florida players performed at a point-per-game pace in those matchups, including Aleksander Barkov, who paces his team with seven points. What’s even more impressive is that 11 different players scored those 15 goals, demonstrating just how deep the home team’s lineup is.
If the Bruins want to win, Jeremy Swayman must remain reliable between the pipes. Even though his team has left him high and dry more often than not in this series, the 25-year-old netminder has still played to a .905 save percentage and even stopped 38-of-41 (92.7%) in Game 4.
The Panthers will turn again to Sergei Bobrovsky, who’s also been up and down in this series. There’s no denying that the Russian goaltender is one of the best in the world, however, his .885 SV% in this series has left much to be desired.
Which version of Panthers G Sergei Bobrovsky will show up tonight?
Nothing is guaranteed in sports, but I’m taking the Panthers to eliminate the Bruins tonight. I just can’t bring myself to trust the Bruins due to their goal-scoring issues on top of the fact that Marchand won’t be playing. Florida is firmly in control at this point and has more than enough depth to overwhelm Boston, leading to a fourth straight win.
I’m also comfortable enough to take the Panthers on the puck line. After all, they’re outscoring the Bruins by an average of 3.3 goals over the last three games, winning twice by two or more. As long as Boston continues to struggle to find the twine, Florida winning by multiple goals is a real possibility.

Best Bruins vs Panthers NHL Game 5 Player Prop (5/14)
It’s an absolute no-brainer to back the Over on Matthew Tkachuk’s 3.5-shot total (-124) as the best Bruins vs. Panthers Game 5 player prop.
Whenever the Panthers need to generate offensive chances, Tkachuk delivers. The 26-year-old power forward has amassed 53 shots on goal across his last 11 games (4.8 per contest), finishing with the Over on this prop nine times. He’s made good on this prop in back-to-back outings as he finished each of the last two games with five-plus SOG.
With the Over being 6-1 in his last seven outings at Amerant Bank Arena, I’d be surprised if Tkachuk doesn’t pull through on this prop again.
