Bruins vs Maple Leafs NHL Predictions & Picks (11/5)
It’s only the second meeting of the 2024-25 season between these Atlantic Division rivals. They last met at TD Garden on Oct. 26 as the Bruins picked up a 4-3 overtime win over the Maple Leafs thanks to captain Brad Marchand’s game-winning goal.
Both sides have gone 2-2 SU since that meeting, however, they’re entering tonight’s matchup as they trend in opposite directions.
The Bruins are coming off back-to-back shutout victories, most recently notching a 2-0 win over the Seattle Kraken on Sunday. Goaltending was one of Boston’s biggest issues to begin the campaign, leaving time to tell if that trend can continue with a trip to Scotiabank Arena. Speaking of which, the Bruins are 5-1 SU on their last six trips to Toronto, emphasizing how it’s become somewhat of a second home for them.
As for the Maple Leafs, they’re entering tonight’s match following two consecutive road losses. Their most recent defeat came in the form of a 2-1 loss to the Minnesota Wild two nights ago. Considering how Toronto has only scored three times on its last 65 shots, it’s clear that something has to change soon.
The Bruins are 5-1 SU in their last six road games vs. the Maple Leafs.
Neither side has performed well on the man advantage this season. The Maple Leafs currently own the second-worst power play in the NHL (10.0%) while the Bruins have only been slightly better with a 14.8% success rate (25th). It’s entirely possible that tonight’s matchup could come down to which power play can be more effective.
The good news for Toronto is that Boston’s penalty kill hasn’t been special, clocking in at 78.6% (17th). On the flip side, the Maple Leafs have managed to kill 84.3% of the penalties they’ve taken thus far (9th).
With this being a huge divisional matchup, the Bruins will likely start Jeremy Swayman tonight. After a shaky start to the season, Swayman stopped all 23 shots he faced in Sunday’s win over the Kraken. He’s also 5-2-0 with a .911 save percentage and 2.64 goals-against average in seven regular-season matchups with Toronto.
As for the Maple Leafs, they’ll probably roll with Anthony Stolarz again. With Joseph Woll dealing with injuries early in the season, Stolarz has done a great job at stepping up, backstopping his way to a 4-2-2 record, 2.38 GAA, and .919 SV% in his first eight starts of the season.
Can Bruins G Jeremy Swayman continue finding success against the Maple Leafs?
Despite being the underdogs, I’m taking the Bruins to win tonight. Not only are the Maple Leafs coming off back-to-back losses, but they’ll also be without captain Auston Matthews (upper body) for the foreseeable future. Throw in the fact that Boston has had plenty of recent success at Scotiabank Arena and it’s easy to see why I’m going with the road team.
As for the best bet, I’m feeling risky so let’s stick with the Bruins on the moneyline.

Best Bruins vs Maple Leafs NHL Player Prop (11/5)
I like a few Bruins vs. Maple Leafs player prop bets tonight, including Brad Marchand o2.5 shots on goal (-108).
Marchand has done a solid job of creating offense this season, averaging 2.6 shots on goal through his first 13 games. The former Stanley Cup winner’s production has jumped up to an average of 3.0 SOG across his last five outings — a stretch where he finished with the Over on this prop four times.
A matchup against the Maple Leafs could be beneficial for Marchand as they’ve allowed the 11th-most shots in the league this season. Considering how he had four SOG against Toronto just over a week ago, I like the 36-year-old winger’s odds to finish with the Over again.
Best Bruins vs. Maple Leafs Player Prop: Brad Marchand o2.5 Shots on Goal (-108)
