See Picks & Statistics For The GameThe Boston Bruins look to break out of a three-game losing streak when they visit the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday, Feb. 1. Boston and Toronto have already met twice this season with each side picking up a victory in one-goal contests. Needless to say, the latest chapter of the Bruins vs Maple Leafs rivalry should be another competitive tilt.
As mentioned above, the Bruins have lost each of their last three games — their longest skid of the 2022-23 NHL season. This game is also the fifth of a five-game road trip for the Bruins and after they lost 4-1 to the Carolina Hurricanes in their last outing, they’ll want to end the trip on a high note.
Meanwhile, the Maple Leafs are 3-1-0 in their last four games and are coming off a 5-1 blowout win over the Washington Capitals. John Tavares finished the night with a pair of assists while five different Toronto players found the back of the net, leaving time to tell if the Leafs can get another group effort tonight.
Wednesday’s Bruins vs Maple Leafs matchup offers several betting opportunities in what will surely be a thrilling contest. Here’s a look at BetOnline Sportsbook’s latest odds for the game, as well as a prediction and the best bet to make, courtesy of Betting News.

Bruins vs Maple Leafs Prediction and Picks
Bruins vs Maple Leafs Prediction: Maple Leafs 4, Bruins 3
Bruins vs Maple Leafs Best Bets: Maple Leafs ML (Best Value: +106 at BetOnline) & Over 6 Goals (Best Value: -104 at BetOnline)
The Bruins have been one of the league’s best road teams for the majority of the campaign, but that hasn’t been the case lately.
One of the reasons why the Bruins are on a three-game skid is that their power play has fizzled out. Though they still have the No. 6 unit in the NHL (25.3%), they’re 0-for-12 on the man advantage over the last three contests.
The Maple Leafs’ penalty kill has been fairly average thus far (79.3%, No. 16), they’ve killed 85.7% of penalties over the last six games. On top of that, Toronto’s PK unit has an 80% success rate against Boston in the previous two games this season.
It’s also going to be tough for the Bruins to win in Toronto. The Maple Leafs are 20-4-4 at Scotiabank Arena and have victories in seven of their last eight home games.
One player who has been a part of that recent home success is William Nylander, who has a team-high 13 points (six goals, seven assists) in that span. Tavares isn’t too far behind him, tallying four goals and seven assists over that stretch.
The Bruins also haven’t had much luck at Scotiabank Arena lately, losing in four of their last five trips to Ontario’s capital city. What’s even worse is that Boston has lost each of its last three road games against Toronto, being outscored 12-5.
The Maple Leafs will also be motivated by the fact that catching the Bruins is a realistic goal now. Boston is only 11 points ahead of Toronto for the top spot in the NHL and with 30 or so games remaining for each team, it’s not an impossible goal.
Keeping that in mind, I’m going with the Maple Leafs pulling off the upset at home, so take them outright on the moneyline. They’ve been rock solid at Scotiabank Arena as of late, whereas the Bruins haven’t looked good in Toronto for quite some time.
I’m also siding with the over on the projected total. After all, four of the last five Bruins vs Maple Leafs games have gone over six goals, including two of the last three played in Toronto.
With the Maple Leafs flying high at home and the Bruins being desperate for a win, look for more goals scored than expected.
