The Boston Bruins (44-17-15) and Carolina Hurricanes (47-21-7) are both on the hunt for a third consecutive win when they collide at PNC Arena for a 7 p.m. ET showdown on Thursday, April 4.
The road trip wraps in Raleigh.

The Bruins started their week right by notching a 3-0 victory over the Nashville Predators on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Hurricanes return to action for the first time since their own 3-0 win against the Montreal Canadiens on March 30.
As the 2023-24 NHL regular season winds down, the Bruins and Hurricanes remain two of the league’s top contenders. Carolina is currently BetOnline’s +650 co-favorite to win the Stanley Cup while Boston is tied for the sixth-best championship odds (+1100).
So, who’ll emerge victorious? Let’s dive into my Bruins vs. Hurricanes NHL prediction and best bets to discuss the action.

Bruins vs Hurricanes NHL Prediction & Pick (4/4): Don’t Expect Many Goals
It’s hard not to get excited about two of the NHL’s best teams squaring off. The Bruins head into tonight’s place with an Atlantic Division-best 103 points while the Hurricanes have 101 points and trail the New York Rangers by five for the Metropolitan lead.
Even though we’re in April, this is only the second of three Bruins-Hurricanes matchups this season. The two clubs went head-to-head at TD Garden on Jan. 24, resulting in a 3-2 win for Carolina despite Brad Marchand’s two-goal effort.
The series now shifts to PNC Arena where the Bruins have had next to no luck lately, dropping six of their last seven road games against the Hurricanes. Boston barely generated any offense during that stretch as it was outscored 28-10 on aggregate.
The Bruins have also been averaged against Metropolitan teams this season, going 10-10 SU against the division thus far.
For comparison, the Hurricanes are 18-4 SU against the Atlantic Division, which includes seven straight wins.
The Hurricanes have dominated Atlantic teams throughout the 2023-24 NHL season.
Special teams can sometimes be the difference in a game and if that’s the case tonight, Carolina has the slim advantage. The Hurricanes currently rank third on the power play and first on the penalty kill whereas the Bruins sit ninth and seventh, respectively.
One thing that these teams do have in common is recent stellar goaltending as Boston is coming off a shutout win while Carolina hasn’t surrendered a goal in 120 minutes and 23 seconds.
The Bruins like to alternate between their goalies, though, meaning Jeremy Swayman is likely starting tonight. Unfortunately, the 25-year-old netminder has hit somewhat of a rough patch, proven by his 3.37 goals-against average and .858 save percentage in his last five starts.
The Hurricanes also rotate their goaltenders, so Frederik Andersen is likely between the pipes at home. The two-time Jennings Trophy winner has been near-perfect since returning from injury last month, backstopping his way to a 7-0-0 record, 1.14 GAA, .957 SV%, and two shutouts in seven appearances.
Bruins G Jeremy Swayman finished with a .900 SV% or worse in each of his last five starts.
Although this game could go either way, let’s roll with Carolina. Both teams are playing well, but the Bruins are struggling to buy a win at PNC Arena. I just don’t see that trend ending given how the Hurricanes are playing at home in addition to their dominance over the Atlantic Division.
Let’s also go with the Under on the 5.5-goal total. Not only are both sides coming off shutout wins, but the Under is 8-3 in Boston’s last 11 games and 5-0 in Carolina’s five previous home outings.
With four of the last five Bruins-Hurricanes matchups failing to reach their projected total, it’s clear that the Under is the best option tonight.

Best Bruins vs Hurricanes NHL Player Prop (4/4)
When it comes to a solid Bruins vs. Hurricanes player prop, I’m going with the Over on Martin Necas’ 2.5-shot total.
Necas has been smashing this prop over the last month or so. In his last 20 games, the Czech forward is averaging 3.6 shots per outing while finishing with the Over 16 times — an 80.0% success rate. The Over is also 11-4 across his last 15 home contests, which is a span where he’s averaging 5.4 SOG.
After tallying nine SOG against the Bruins back in January, it’s a no-brainer to back this Necas-based prop tonight.
Best Bruins vs Hurricanes Prop Bet: Martin Necas o2.5 Shots on Goal (-130)
