The Bruins’ perfect start to the 2023-24 campaign continued on Sunday night with a 3-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks. The Blackhawks, on the other hand, lost for the fourth time in five games with a 5-3 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights over the weekend.

Bruins vs Blackhawks Prediction
The Bruins are on fire to begin the 2023-24 NHL season and aren’t showing any signs of slowing down. They’re the Eastern Conference’s last remaining undefeated teams and only one of three perfect clubs league-wide along with the Golden Knights and Colorado Avalanche.
The key to the Bruins’ terrific start has been their defense and goaltending. Boston has yet to allow more than two goals in a game, holding its first five opponents to just 1.4 goals per game. That includes a 3-1 season-opening victory over Chicago.
Although it isn’t confirmed yet, Daily Faceoff points to Jeremy Swayman starting for the Bruins tonight. The Anchorage, AK native has started two games so far this season, playing to a 2.02 goals-against average and a .943 save percentage.
The Blackhawks, meanwhile, are likely rolling with Petr Mrazek. Although the veteran netminder’s 3.03 GAA is less than stellar, his .924 SV% shows that he’s played well despite his team’s struggles.
At the same time, it’s worth noting that Mrazek hasn’t notched a win over the Bruins since 2018. He’s 0-6-0 in his last eight games against Boston, playing to a 3.63 GAA and .886 SV% along the way.
Much to the Blackhawks’ dismay, the Bruins’ top players are clicking. David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand lead the team with eight and seven points, respectively. Free-agent signing James Van Riemsdyk is up to three goals in five games while rookie Matthew Poitras is coming off a two-goal performance.
Chicago’s offense has been lacking outside of Connor Bedard, Corey Perry, and Tyler Johnson. The Blackhawks have been outscored 16-10 in their last five games, being held to two or fewer goals in three of those contests.
It doesn’t help that Chicago’s power play is only clicking at 7.4% — good for fifth-worst in the NHL. While Boston hasn’t been perfect on the man advantage, a 16.7% success rate is still better than the opposition.
After easily disposing of the Blackhawks nearly two weeks ago, I don’t see the Bruins breaking a sweat tonight. They’re potential Stanley Cup contenders while Chicago will likely find itself in the draft lottery once again.
Considering how four of the Bruins’ five wins came by multi-goal margins while the Blackhawks have been outscored 9-3 in their last two games, I expect Boston to cover the spread this evening.
Bruins vs Blackhawks Prediction: Bruins 4, Blackhawks 1
Best Bet: Bruins -1.5 (+110 on BetDSI)
Bruins vs Blackhawks Player Prop
For the best Bruins vs. Blackhawks player prop, we’re hopping over to Bovada to take the Over on Brad Marchand’s 2.5-shot total.
Marchand is no stranger to creating offensive chances, averaging 3.0 shots on goal per game this season. He’s racked up 12 SOG in the last three games, including two five-shot performances.
Considering that the Blackhawks allow the sixth-most shots per game in the NHL, I don’t see Marchand having any issues recording at least three tonight.
Bet: Brad Marchand o2.5 Shots on Goal (-120 on BetOnline)
