The Nashville Predators will test themselves against the top team in the Western Conference in Round 1. The Colorado Avalanche will look to cruise into Round 2 with a series win over their Central Division rivals.
The two team met four times in the regular season. Nashville was victorious in 3 of the 4 meetings. However, two of Nashville’s wins required a shootout to decide the victor.
The lines for this series are very lopsided. Colorado has the best odds out of any team in the Stanley Cup Playoffs to move into Round 2.
Nashville’s route becomes even tougher when you factor in that they will be without goaltender Juuse Saros for at least two games in the opening round. He is dealing with a lower body injury that he sustained on April 26 against the Calgary Flames.

Colorado and Their Balanced Offensive Attack
The Colorado Avalanche enter the playoffs with a Top 5 offense in the NHL. Their success stems from the ability to move the puck and spread out the attack.
Top point scorers, Mikko Rantanen and Nathan MacKinnon, lead the team’s offensive onslaught during the regular season. Both players had over 30 goals and 50 assists on the year.
Another big weapon for Colorado, Gabriel Landeskog, is back from nursing a knee injury that required surgery in March. He missed 31 games. this season, but is back in time to assist Colorado in their playoff endeavors.
The offense should have an easier time scoring on Nashville’s backup goaltender. David Rittich has appeared in 17 games this season and has a record of 6-3-4. He is allowing nearly four goals per game, and he struggled in the Preds’ final game of the year (5-4 loss in Arizona).
Even though Nashville won three meetings between the two teams this year, the odds are stacked against them. Most places give them very little hope in Round 1 due to their defense that ranks in the bottom half of the league. Add injuries to the list, and it is going to make for a very long series.
The Avalanche will look to avenge their 2021 playoff woes. After sweeping the St. Louis Blues in Round 1, they fell to the Vegas Golden Knights in 6 games. They had high hopes last year, but this season it feels like a must win scenario.
Colorado Avalanche vs. Nashville Predators Series Prediction and Betting Tips
Prediction: Avalanche win the series 4-0
Nashville’s lack of goaltending and poor defense will be their downfall. Colorado will make adjustments before the opening round to fight off any attack that the Predators have planned.
Colorado’s moneyline is enormous, sitting at -650 at BetOnline and Bovada Sportsbook. Instead of the moneyline, bet on series score and total games. With all of the problems Nashville has on defense, expect a series blowout. This would be the time to risk it and go for the Colorado sweep.
The 4 game total has great value at +320, but the best value sits with Colorado winning the series 4-0 (+370).
