The Colorado Avalanche and Edmonton Oilers square off in Game 4 of the Western Conference Final on Monday night. Colorado holds a tight grip on the series with a 3-0 advantage.
This would not be the first sweep for Colorado this postseason. They sent Nashville packing in 4 games in Round 1, and they have a chance to do it against an even better team.
The Oilers have been heavily outmatched and outshot in the series. Colorado leads in shots 130-90, and over the past two games, their defense has been excellent. After an 8-6 final in Game 1, we thought we might see a shootout of a series. However, Colorado backed that up with a shutout and a tight 4-2 victory on the road.
Edmonton is taking a lot of penalties in the series (14 in 3 games). Even though the Avalanche have only converted on 2 of those opportunities, the Oilers can’t stay in the game.
All of our trusted sportsbooks have Colorado as the favorite again on the road. They have not been the underdog once during the playoffs, and their recent outburst is a reason why.
g targeted by the Colorado defense.

Shutting Down the Oilers Offense
After Game 1 of the series, Colorado had some adjustments to make. They came away with the win, but gave up far too many high quality chances to the Oilers.
In Game 2, they made those adjustments, and the team rallied behind it. Since those adjustments were made on defense, they have only allowed two goals and 53 shots on net.
Leon Draisaitl has been quieted over the past two games. He has no points in Game 2 or 3, and is virtually nowhere to be seen on the ice. Connor McDavid is still having some success, but not to the level he had in his Round 2 series against Calgary.
The two hottest stars in the NHL playoffs have been very quiet lately. Game 4 needs to see more of these high-caliber players for Edmonton pulling their weight. The team is one loss away from going home with nothing, and they haven’t played to their standards yet in the series.
Avalanche vs. Oilers Prediction and Best Bets
Avalanche vs. Oilers Prediction: Avalanche 4, Oilers 3
Avalanche vs. Oilers Best Bets: Avalanche on the moneyline (-125 at Bovada Sportsbook)
The Avs are posied for a sweep yet again. They have been flawless over the psat two game of the series, and if they can put together one more solid performance, they will be on their way to their first Stanley Cup Final since 2001.
I believe the Oilers will make Game 4 more competitive, but the nod still goes to the Avalanche. The moneyline provides the best return in this matchup, and the favorite should be able to come out on top.
