Game 1 of this series was a barn-burner as the Jets picked up a 7-6 victory on Sunday. Seven different Winnipeg players finished with multi-point efforts, including Kyle Connor and Adam Lowry, who registered two goals apiece.
Can Winnipeg turn its momentum into a 2-0 series lead? Or will Colorado tie things up with a bounce-back effort?
We’ll address those questions as well as my Avalanche vs. Jets predictions and best NHL bets below.

Avalanche vs Jets NHL Game 2 Predictions & Pick (4/23)
It’s going to be interesting to see if Game 2 matches Game 1’s excitement. After all, the Avalanche and Jets combined for 13 goals in the series opener which included six goals in both the first and third periods. The lead changed for times throughout the contest, however, three changes were in favor of Winnipeg as Colorado failed to lead in the final 44 minutes of the game.
One reason why the Avs lost was because they couldn’t create any breathing room. The Jets did a tremendous job at staving off adversity, scoring within three minutes of each of the Avalanche’s first four goals.
It didn’t help that Colorado also lost the faceoff battle (32-26) while having 25 of its shot attempts blocked. That’s without mentioning how goaltending was also one of the Avalanche’s biggest issues as Alexander Georgiev surrendered seven goals on only 23 shots — good for a .696 save percentage.
Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck wasn’t his usual rock-solid self, but he still outperformed Georgiev by turning aside 40 of the 46 shots he faced (.870 SV%).
Avalanche G Alexander Georgiev was horrendous in Game 1. Can he bounce back tonight?
It’s easy to be concerned about the Avalanche, who have now lost five of their last seven games ahead of tonight’s affair. What’s even worse is that Colorado has now lost two Winnipeg twice during that stretch while being outscored 14-6 on aggregate.
Meanwhile, the Jets are currently on a nine-game winning streak without showing any signs of slowing down. Winnipeg outscored those opponents by an average of 2.3 goals per game while boasting a 28.0% power-play success rate.
The Jets’ special team success is more bad news for the Avalanche, who have only killed seven of the last 18 penalties they’ve taken (38.9%). In other words, Winnipeg could potentially put Game 2 out of reach if Colorado finds itself taking too many penalties early on.
The Jets have more than enough talent to make the Avalanche pay if they fall into penalty trouble again.
In a game that could certainly go either way, I’m taking the Jets to win at home. Between Georgiev’s lackluster performance and the team’s recent struggles, I just can’t trust the Avs at the moment. Meanwhile, the Jets are the hottest team in the NHL at the moment and have the distinct advantage of playing at Canada Life Centre.
But regardless of who wins, I expect to see the 6-goal total surpassed. After all, the Over is 7-1 in Colorado’s last eight games on top of being 5-0 in Winnipeg’s last five at home. Nine of the last 13 Avalanche-Jets matchups also surpassed their projected total with each of the last three featuring seven or more goals.

Best Avalanche vs Jets NHL Game 2 Player Prop (4/23)
With plenty of goals projected for this evening, I’m taking Kyle Connor to record 2+ points (+200) for the best Avalanche vs. Jets player prop.

— Winnipeg Jets (@NHLJets) April 22, 2024
Connor has been on fire lately, heading into tonight’s contest on a nine-game point streak. The veteran sniper has four multi-point efforts during that stretch, which includes finishing with at least two points in each of his last three outings. Interestingly enough, he also finished with multiple points in three straight games against the Avalanche.
After producing a three-point showing in Game 1, look for more of the same from Connor on Tuesday.
