Two Games, Three Solid Props
There are only two games tonight, but no reason not to start the weekend off right and build up that bankroll for a HUGE slate on Saturday. Luckily I love both games and dug up some gems.
First we have my Arizona Coyotes facing off against the New Jersey Devils, who are coming off a tough win vs the Detroit Red Wings. Followed up by the bitter rivals Pittsburgh Penguins vs the Washington Capitals. Let’s dive into three different props to increase our NHL betting vocabulary. All lines used are from Bovada.
Pucks on Net
We found a nice shiny shot on goal prop from the Coyotes, bet you didn’t expect to read that. Lawson Crouse’s SOG line is set at 1.5 for at -130. Crouse passed this line nearly 60% of games played last season, and will be making his season debut tonight against a Devils team who won in a hard fought battle against Detroit last night. The Coyotes added a good amount of depth to the forward core, allowing Crouse’s line to exploit mismatches. He primarily plays with set up machine Matias Maccelli and is on the 2nd power play unit. I love Crouse at 1.5, and wsnt to jump on this line before it moves to 2.5
The Red Hot Devils
Going right to the opposite end of the ice lets look at a point prop from the New Jersey Devils. How in the world is Dawson Mercer -134 for a point on Bovada!? Last season he had a point in 57% of all games. This was his first full season in the NHL, and now he had solidified himself on the 2nd line with the Devils. He is playing with Nico Hischier and Timo Meier, both players who have had 80+ point seasons. Don’t forget, a point is either a goal OR an assist.
The Coyotes aren’t known for keeping pucks out of net, as they gave up the 8th most goals against. While I do think the Coyotes will be improved this season, I still think their games will be over leans all season. Last season they also ranked dead last in powerplay goals against. Mercer is on the second PP unit along with linemates Hischier and Meier. This game has the script of a goal fest and I think Mercer gets involved.
Fireworks in the Capital
To close us out let’s look at a goalscorer on the Capitals vs Penguins game. I immediately circled Jake Guentzel this morning as a goalscorer target and I am not backing off it. The man loves playing against the Capitals. He had a goal vs them in 2 of 3 games last season and 6 of L10. I expect a BIG bounce back by the Penguins after being defeated by the Blackhawks at home.
The Capitals look to be starting backup goaltender Charlie Lindgren tonight. He had a 3.05 goals against average, meaning Guentzel and crew should expect to hit the back of the net. The Capitals allowed the 14th most goals against last season, and the 11th most to left wingers.
You can grab Guentzel’s goal for +125 on Bovada.
Let’s have a great Friday night to get the week kicked off right with three solid looking NHL props!
