The Los Angeles Rams kicked off the Matthew Stafford era in a big way last season. The veteran quarterback lead them to a victory in Super Bowl LVI in his first season with the team.
The Rams will begin 2022 in a pretty good spot. They are projected to win their division again, as well as make a deep run in the NFC Playoff bracket.

The Los Angeles Rams Offense
The Rams offense is lead by veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford. Last season, he threw for 4,886 yards, which is the second most in his career. He also added 41 touchdowns, but had some trouble with the interceptions, as he threw 17 in 2021.
His weapons on offense helped the team to a Top 10 passing attack, scoring the second most touchdowns through the air in the entire NFL. Cooper Kupp, Van Jefferson, and Tyler Higbee were the big 3 in the passing game.
Kupp continued his dominance over the league, posting 1,947 yards and a whopping 16 touchdowns. He was by far Stafford’s favorite target during the regular season, and it carried over into the playoffs.
The offense will also get a piece back that missed the entirety of last season. Cam Akers, who tore his achilles prior to the 2021 season, only took 3 snaps last season in the final week of the regular season. He showed much promise in 2020 as a rookie, so they will be excited to have him back.
The Los Angeles Rams Defense
The Rams defense, surprisingly, wasn’t that effective last season. It made the offense work harder to make up for lost points. They gave up the 3rd most points in the league last season, but still were able to claim a Super Bowl championship.
They were 17th against the pass and 6th against the rush last season, but their biggest strength was the amount of turnovers and sacks they racked up. They were 3rd best in both of those categories, which helped throughout the playoffs.
The addition of Von Miller on the defense in the middle of the season was a big help. He registered 5 sacks in just 8 games with the team. He also rushed the quarterback a lot and forced a fumble in the later stages of the season.
Jalen Ramsey also had a great season, intercepting 4 passes and making 62 tackles, 9 of them for a loss. The future looks bright, and the talent is there for the Rams to have a Top 5 defense. They will need to limit touchdowns from outside the red zone and tighten up in the passing game to continue being effective in the NFC West.
Are the Rams Destined for Another Super Bowl?
Los Angeles has one of the best teams in the NFC. They have a tough schedule, but I think they improve enough from last season to pick up the #1 seed in the playoffs. With the extra rest of the automatic bye, they will be dangerous in the playoffs.
I also have the Rams winning the NFC Championship for a second straight season. They are on the track to being a dynasty if they can keep their core players together. Their running game will be stronger with Akers returning, and the passing game will develop more in Stafford’s second year with the team.
My prediction for the Super Bowl…a Rams loss. The AFC seems to be the stronger of the two conferences this season, and I don’t see anyone knocking off Buffalo in the playoffs. If Los Angeles can become more dynamic with their offense, they have a shot.
However, as it stands, definitely bet on the Rams to win their division as there is value in it. Also, bet on them to make it back to the Super Bowl, as Green Bay and Tampa Bay have issues with their offense they will have to address.
Rams Final Season Predictions
- 13-4 record
- 5-1 within the NFC West
- Matthew Stafford over 5,000 passing yards
- Cam Akers over 1,000 rushing yards
- #1 seed in NFC Playoffs
- Loss in Super Bowl LVII
