Cowboys vs Falcons NFL Week 9 Predictions & Picks (11/3)
The Cowboys are heading to Atlanta as they look to avoid a third consecutive defeat. After a much-needed bye week, America’s Team returned to action last weekend to the tune of a 30-24 loss to the San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium. The loss marked the Cowboys’ fourth in their last six outings — a span where they surrendered 30.2 points per game.
Meanwhile, the Falcons have a pep in their step following a 31-26 victory over the rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Quarterback Kirk Cousins was electric as he completed 79.3% of passes for 276 passing yards and four touchdowns — two of which went to tight end Kyle Pitts.
With the win, the Falcons are now 4-1 SU across their last five outings. Their offense has been a key reason behind their early success this season as they averaged 24.3 points (12th) and 371.6 total yards (7th) per game.
Although the Cowboys have had one of the NFL’s top offenses in recent years, that isn’t the case this time around as they rank 22nd and 15th in terms of points and yards, respectively.
The Cowboys have been inconsistent on both sides of the ball this season.
It’s going to be a long day for the Cowboys if they continue to struggle to stop the run. They’re currently allowing the second-most rushing yards per game and now must go up against Falcons running back Bijan Robinson, who’s on track to rush for over 1,100 yards and eight touchdowns this season.
Winning will be even harder if the Cowboys get off to another slow start. They’re only averaging 7.3 first-half points in their last three games (T-31st) whereas the Falcons are averaging 17.7 during that stretch (2nd).
It’s also worth noting that not only are the Cowboys 0-5 ATS in their last five NFC matchups, but they’re also 2-4 ATS in their last six meetings with the Falcons. Dallas is also only 9-11 ATS as the away underdog since the beginning of the 2019 NFL season.
The Cowboys haven’t had much recent ATS success vs. the Falcons. Will that change in Week 9?
Until the Cowboys show some serious improvements, I’m going with the Falcons this weekend. The Falcons have won more often than they’ve lost lately and the offense appears to be firing on all cylinders. Meanwhile, the Cowboys boast one of the NFL’s worst defenses, which could see them fall behind early if Mike McCarthy’s defenders aren’t 100% ready.
With that being said, I’m taking the Falcons as the 1.5-point first-half favorites (-115) for the best bet. As mentioned earlier, the Cowboys frequently fall behind early on and own a minus-4.7 average first-half scoring margin in their last three games. It won’t be a surprise if Dallas is trailing Atlanta by at least two points after the first two frames.

Best Cowboys vs Falcons NFL Week 9 Player Prop Bet
With how poor the Cowboys’ run defense is, I have no issue with taking Bijan Robinson o74.5 rushing yards (-125) for the best player prop in this NFL Week 9 matchup.
After a somewhat slow start to the year, Robinson is heating up. The former Texas Longhorn has racked up 261 rushing yards on 49 carries in his last three outings (87 rushing yards per game), which includes finishing with the Over on this prop twice. There’s a good chance that trend continues given that the Cowboys are allowing 154.6 rushing yards per game and just surrendered 223 to the 49ers last week.
Considering how Dallas has let a running back rush for 75-plus yards in four of its last six games, there’s a good chance Robinson will have an explosive performance in A-town this weekend.
Best Cowboys vs. Falcons Player Prop: Bijan Robinson o74.5 Rushing Yards (-125)
