See Picks & Statistics For The GameWeek 9 of the 2023 NFL season kicks off with the Tennessee Titans taking on the Pittsburgh Steelers in a Thursday Night Football showdown. With both teams in the hunt for an AFC playoff spot, neither side can afford to lose tonight’s collision.
The Titans hope to continue building momentum after rookie QB Will Levis’ four-touchdown performance led them to a 28-23 win over the Atlanta Falcons. The Pittsburgh Steelers, meanwhile, are coming off a 20-10 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Bovada’s futures odds make it clear that neither team is a threat to win the conference at the moment. Pittsburgh sits at +5000 to win the AFC Championship (No. 10) while Tennessee sits slightly further back at +10000 odds (No. 12).
Tonight’s Titans vs. Steelers matchup will test if either team can improve its postseason odds. In the meantime, let’s dive into this betting preview as we check out the latest game odds, a prediction, and Thursday’s best bets.

Titans vs Steelers Prediction & Best Bet — NFL Week 9 TNF
Things looked bad last week when Titans QB Ryan Tannehill suffered an ankle injury, forcing Will Levis into his first-ever NFL game. Fortunately, the rookie gunslinger didn’t look out of place, completing 65.5% of passes for 238 yards and four touchdowns.
Although his performance was tremendous, time will tell if that was a fluke or a sign of things to come. The good news for Levis is that Pittsburgh has one of the more average pass defenses in the league.
The Steelers surrender the ninth-most passing yards per game despite allowing the fifth-lowest completion percentage. On the flip side, they’re also tied for ninth league-wide with seven interceptions. In other words, Levis could potentially put up some nice numbers, but he must play mistake-free football.
At the same time, the Steelers need their offense to wake up. The fact that they only scored 10 points on 12 drives last week is inexcusable. Even worse is that Pittsburgh only converted on 25% of third downs and made it into the red zone just once.
The Steelers have now averaged just 14.3 PPG over the last four outings, being held to 17 or fewer points thrice. For reference, only the New York Giants are averaging fewer points (12.3 PPG) during that span.
What makes me question the home team even more is their inability to prevail when the odds are in their favor. After all, the Steelers are just 6-12 ATS in their last 18 games as the favorite.
With Levis looking great in his debut, I’m taking the Titans to pull off the upset. The Steelers give up a lot of yards through the air and seemingly forgot how to score the football as of late. If Tennessee gets off to a big lead, battling back will be extremely difficult.
Having said that, I don’t expect many points tonight. The Under is a combined 11-3 for these teams in 2023, mostly due to both sides possessing a bottom-10 offense.
With the Steelers owning the ninth-best red-zone defense at home while the Titans sit at No. 2 on the road, the likelihood of a high-scoring affair is low.
Prediction: Titans Win
Bet: Under 36.5 Points (-110 on Bovada)
Titans vs Steelers Best Player Prop — Week 9 TNF
When it comes to the best Titans vs. Steelers player prop, taking Derrick Henry to rush for more than 73.5 yards is the way to go.
Although the Steelers give up a lot of aerial yards, they also struggle to defend running backs. They’ve already allowed the sixth-most ground yards to the position despite already having their bye week, resulting in an average of 115.4 rushing yards per game.
Henry might be having a down year by his standards, but he’s still averaging 75.1 rushing yards and has finished with the Over on this prop three times in his last four games.
Expect a big night from “The King.”
Bet: Derrick Henry o73.5 Rushing Yards (-114 on Bovada)
