Bills @ Dolphins Analysis & Breakdown
Both the Bills and Dolphins started the 2024/25 Season with wins, but both teams looked shaky early in their Week 1 games. Last week the Jaguars were visiting the Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium and it was the Dolphins who started their season, down 14-0.
Miami’s offense looked like they were still shaking off the rust, scoring just 7 points in the 1st half, going into the 3rd quarter down 17-7. The Dolphins came alive in that 3rd quarter.
Tyreek Hill ran in an 80 yard catch for a touchdown, bringing the Jaguars’ lead to 17-14 and a late fumble in the 3rd by Travis Etienne would turn out to be the final nail in the Jaguars’ coffin.
Miami would kick 2 field goals in the 4th quarter, holding Jacksonville scoreless & winning the game 20-17.
Buffalo made a lot of personnel changes on the field over the off-season and early against the Cardinals, it was looking like a disaster. The Bills were almost headed into the half down 17-3, that is until Josh Allen decided to run in the Bills’ first touchdown of 2024.
With both teams sputtering out the gates, I’m looking for both squads to get it together here in Week 2.
James Cook o60.5 Rushing Yards (-110) via BetOnline – Get a $500 WELCOME BONUS
Cook is entering his third season as a running back for the Buffalo Bills and he’s finally entering the year as the clear cut #1 option. In Week 1, Cook saw 19 rushing attempts for 71 yards and managed just 3.7 yards per carry.
Last year Cook was splitting time with veteran RBs like Damien Harris and Latavius Murray. This year he’s being backed up Ray Davis and Ty Johnson but neither guy should cut into Cook’s workload this year. In Week 1 no other RB on the Bills’ roster saw more than 3 carries, Cook saw 19 carries.
He ended last season on a high note, finally winning the starting job late in the season. Cook played 4 games in December, averaged 17.8 rush attempts per contest, and 88.8 yards per game.
James averaged 5 yards per carry over the last 8 games of the 2023/24 regular season, and had 18 carries in both of the Bill’s playoff games. Miami gave up 117 yards on the ground to Jacksonville running backs, with Tank Bigsby and Travis Etienne tallying 24 total rush attempts.
The Bills commitment to the run has been clear since the second half of last season; look for them to continue with their ground attack here on Thursday Night Football.

Buffalo Bills +2 (-108) via BetOnline – Get a $500 WELCOME BONUS
Tua Tagovailoa is 1-6 against the Buffalo Bills; in these 7 games he’s thrown for 300 yards just once, and 250 or more just twice.
Tua averages 207 pass yards per game, his completion percentage drops to 61% from his career 67%, AND he’s thrown 6 touchdowns to 7 interceptions in these 7 games.
The Bills looked shaky last week, giving up 17 first half points, en-route to giving up 28 total points on the night. Thankfully, for Bills’ fans, Buffal came storming back with 24 second half points and a few key defensive stops.
Sean McDermott has always been a defensive-minded Head Coach, and this is his chance to rebuild this defense with new names and new faces. The Bills’ defense held their own against Arizona, despite what the final score might tell ya.
Kyler Murray threw for just 162 yards, 21 completions, and 1 touch down. The Cardinals scored just 11 points in the 2H, all coming in the 4th quarter and 6 of those points coming late on a kick-off return touchdown.
The defense is locked in and they’re ready to cause havoc down in Miami.
