The NFL Week 6 Underdog Report – Dog Day Afternoon

We’re five weeks into the NFL Season and to say the dogs have been barking, would be an understatement. Dogs of 5.5 or more are 19-6-1 on the season, covering at a 76% rate this year. Last week we saw a little deviation, the morning slate had 8 favorites win outright and 7 of the 8 covered.
We saw a few big dogs bark in the afternoon with the Cardinals and Giants both getting wins over the Niners and Seahawks; respectively. This week I’ve got a few dogs I’ve got my eye on, so strap in because today we fear no plus (+) signs.
Here are our favorite underdogs to make some noise in Week 6!
Dallas Cowboys +3 (+100) via BetOnline

This ones gross, I hate myself for even wanting to bet on it, but I’m being forced to; 81% of the bets on the Lions spread is just too high of a number. The Cowboys have now won back to back games and they’re coming off a huge win against the NFL’s best defense.
This week the Cowboys play host to the Detroit Lions. The Lions are 3-1 this year, coming in rested off a bye week, looking to make a statement in Dallas. So why are we betting the Cowboys?
I’m not a guy that hangs my hat on bet percentages but the 81% of tickets caught my attention so I had to dive a little deeper. The Cowboys and Lions have faced off twice since 2020, with the Cowboys winning both games, both in Dallas.
The first game came in 2022, Jared Goff’s first year, The Lions were bad, he threw 2 interceptions and they lost 24-6. This isn’t the same Lions team we saw back in 2022. Since then the Lions added David Montgomery, drafted Jahmyr Gibbs, won the NFC North, and made it to the Conference Championship Game last season.
Last year, despite playing so well, the Cowboys snuck away with a 20-19 win last season, Goff had 271 yards, 1 touchdown and once again threw 2 interceptions.
Hear me out, it really is the Cowboys this week.
In their matchup last year, Dak threw for 345 yards, 2 touchdowns and a singular interception. Starting wideout, CeeDee Lamb finished with a career-high 13 receptions and 227 receiving yards.
This year the Lions offense has been potent, their run defense has been elite, but their kryptonite’s been their secondary.
Detroit ranks 1st in rushing yards allowed to running backs, allowing just 58 yards per game. They rank 4th in rush yards allowed, giving up just 90.8 per game.
On the flip side, the Lions rank 27th in pass defense, giving up 258.8 yards per game and they’ve yet to play an elite quarterback outside of Baker Mayfield.
This week’s game is a real test for the Lions and it’s a must win for the Cowboys, so let’s see if the Cowboys got that dog in ’em.

The Panthers have just one win on the season and it was an Andy Dalton masterclass. In three starts, Dalton’s averaging 225 passing yards per game and he’s thrown 5 touchdowns to 2 interceptions.
The Panthers have averaged 23.3 points per game in these 3 starts and outside of the dud last week against the Bears, the offense has looked great. In the 2 games prior, they averaged 30 points per game.
This week against a Falcons team everyone’s getting really bullish on, I love the Panthers to cause some ruckus.
