The biggest sports and entertainment event of the year is on the horizon as Super Bowl 58 takes place on Sunday, Feb. 11. Betting News is covering the annual spectacle from all angles leading up to Sunday, ranging from the biggest storylines to betting opportunities you don’t want to miss.
While most wagers placed in the coming days have to do with the upcoming Kansas City Chiefs vs. San Francisco 49ers clash itself, some sportsbooks are getting creative with their options. In fact, websites like BetOnline allow you to make cross-prop bets that have to do with the Super Bowl and, for example, an NHL game.
If you’re looking to add a new layer to your Super Bowl LVIII betting split, you’ll want to check out the three following cross-sport prop bets.
Super Bowl 58 Betting: 3 Can’t-Miss Cross-Sport Prop Bets
The following Super Bowl 58 prop bet odds are courtesy of BetOnline on Monday, Feb. 5 at 11:06 a.m. ET.
1. What Will Be Higher: Jimmy Buttler Points vs. BOS or Super Bowl 58 First-Half Points?
- Jimmy Butler (+115)
- Super Bowl LVIII first-half points (-145)
Let’s begin this article by discussing whether Jimmy Buttler can score more total points against the Boston Celtics than the 49ers and Chiefs combine for in Super Bowl 58’s first half.
Butler has been solid for the Miami Heat this season, averaging 21.5 points on .499/.442/.871 splits. Although he’s gone on cold streaks here and there, he has scored 21 or more points in each of his last five games as of Feb. 5.
Having said that, Butler has struggled to produce against the Celtics, averaging 15.5 PPG in two meetings against them this season. Additionally, the six-time NBA All-Star has now tallied 17 or fewer points in four of his last seven games against Boston.
Jimmy Butler hasn’t had much success against the Celtics during the 2023-24 NBA season.
Let’s say that Butler finishes with around 20 points against the Celtics. Do I think the Chiefs and 49ers can surpass that number in the first two quarters?
Kansas City and San Francisco have two of the better first-half offenses, averaging 14.5 (6th) and 14.8 (4th) points through two quarters, respectively. The Chiefs first three 2023-24 playoff games also averaged 25.7 points while the 49ers’ two averaged 22.0. For reference, Butler is averaging 20.3 PPG in his last seven meetings with the C’s.
Taking the above into account, I foresee the 49ers and Chiefs outscoring Butler in the first half.

2. What Will Be Higher: Canucks Goals vs. Capitals or Deebo Samuel Targets?
- Vancouver Canucks goals vs. Washington Capitals (+100)
- Deebo Samuel total targets (-130)
The Vancouver Canucks have had one of the NHL’s best offenses throughout the 2023-24 campaign, averaging 3.80 goals per game (2nd). But does that mean they can score more goals against the Washington Capitals than the number of targets 49ers wideout Deebo Samuel will see on Sunday?
Samuel averaged 5.9 targets per game during the regular season and is averaging 5.5 through two postseason games. Having said that, he was targeted a whopping nine times during the NFC Championship Game and also saw nine targets when he made his first Super Bowl appearance four years ago.
Will 49ers WR Deebo Samuel outperform the Canucks this Sunday?
If Samuel’s Super Bowl performance follows his 2023 trends, the Canucks will likely need to score six or more goals to cover. Having said that, Vancouver has scored five or fewer goals in eight of its last nine games as of Feb. 5. The Capitals are bleeding goals, though, allowing at least five in three straight contests.
Although the Canucks are capable of putting on goal clinics at a moment’s notice, I’m taking Samuel for this cross-sport Super Bowl prop. The 49ers are desperate to end their championship drought, meaning they must turn to their best players. After nearly hitting double-digit targets during the NFC title game, I won’t be surprised if Samuel sees a similar workload in Las Vegas.
Best NFL Bets: Deebo Samuel Total Targets (-130)

3. What Will Be Higher: Patrick Mahomes’ Longest Completion or De’Aaron Fox Minutes Played vs. OKC?
- Patrick Mahomes longest completion at Super Bowl LVIII (-115)
- De’Aaron Fox minutes played vs. Oklahoma City Thunder (-115)
De’Aaron Fox has been quite the workhorse this season, playing a career-high 35.6 minutes per game for the Sacramento Kings. But will his number of minutes played against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday be more than Mahomes’ longest completion?
Mahomes has played in three Super Bowls thus far with his longest completions being for 44, 33, and 22 yards. When it comes to his three starts this postseason, the 28-year-old signal-caller’s longest completion has been for an average of 34.3 yards.

Fox, meanwhile, is averaging 36.9 minutes across his last 11 outings, playing at least 36 minutes seven times. Even though Mahomes is known for throwing bombs when it’s least expected, the 49ers have one of the best defenses and should limit his big-play potential. In other words, backing Fox on this prop is the way to go.
