With Halloween in the rearview mirror, a loaded NFL Week 9 slate is on the horizon. One upcoming matchup with its fair share of betting opportunities pits the LA Rams against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field on Sunday, Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. ET.
The Rams hope to avoid a third consecutive loss after falling 43-20 to the Dallas Cowboys last week. Having said that, losing is something that the Packers are used to, highlighted by Green Bay riding a four-game losing streak ahead of this contest.
Sub-.500 records have both teams on the outside looking in when it comes to the postseason picture. BetOnline has LA’s playoff odds sitting at an uninspiring +275 (26.7%) while Green Bay sits at +425 (19.1%).
But before either side can think about the playoffs, they must get through Sunday’s showdown. Here’s a look at the latest Rams vs. Packers odds, as well as my matchup prediction and best bets for this weekend.

Rams vs Packers Prediction & Best Bet — NFL Week 9
Normally, I’d like the Rams in this matchup, but the visitor’s chances of success took a hit when QB Matthew Stafford suffered a UCL injury during last week’s loss. While Stafford is being listed as “day-to-day,” the fact that management considered an injured reserve placement doesn’t bode well for his Week 9 availability.
If Stafford can’t suit up against the Packers, Brett Rypien will likely start at Lambeau Field. The 27-year-old backup completed 5-of-10 passes for 42 yards in relief last week.
Before joining the Rams, Rypien spent three seasons with the Denver Broncos. He didn’t see much action, going 2-1 in three starts while throwing for 778 yards, four touchdowns, eight interceptions, and a 62.9 passer rating — hardly promising numbers.
Unfortunately for Rypien, the Packers have done a decent job at defending the pass. They’re allowing 207.1 passing yards per game (No. 11) and applying pressure on 24.5% of dropbacks (No. 12) while hurrying the quarterback 9.6% of the time (T-No. 8).
Green Bay does give up a lot of rushing yards, but that’s not a concern. LA’s run game has struggled since losing Kyren Wiliams to the IR. The Rams went from averaging 132.3 rushing yards in the last three games he played to 113.5 in the two subsequent outings.
Nevertheless, the Packers must find an offensive spark if they’re going to stop the bleeding. They’re averaging 15.0 PPG during their four-game slide and haven’t scored more than 17 points in their last three outings.
Packers QB Jordan Love must be better. He’s only averaging 197.0 passing yards with three TDs to five INTs and a 65.4 passer rating in his last three games. It’d also help if the duo of A.J. Dillon and Aaron Jones could combine for more than 100 rushing yards — something they’ve done just twice this season.
The good news is that the Rams surrender a good number of offensive opportunities. On top of allowing 23.0 PPG (No. 21), LA’s defense ranks in the bottom half of the NFL when it comes to yards per play, red zone scoring, and third-down conversion rate.
Taking the above into account, I’m rocking with the Packers in Week 9. Stafford’s injury status worries me — especially with Rypien being awful — and the Rams being 0-5 ATS in their last five trips to Lambeau Field seals the deal.
Prediction: Packers Win
Bet: Packers -3 (-120 on BetOnline)
Rams vs Packers Best Player Prop — NFL Week 9
Now that Rams vs. Packers player prop odds are available, I feel confident in a Luke Musgrave anytime touchdown (+400).
Musgrave hasn’t found paydirt yet this season, but I see that changing come Sunday. The Rams have allowed the second-most receiving yards and touchdowns to tight ends this season and just gave up an 18-yard TD to Jake Ferguson last week.
With Musgrave also ranking fourth on the Packers when it comes to red zone targets, I see his luck finally changing against the Rams.
Bet: Luke Musgrave Anytime Touchdown (+400 on BetOnline)
