‘Are you ready for some football???’ Week Four concludes tonight on Monday Night Football in a NFC West showdown between the Rams and the 49ers.
Levi Stadium should be bumping as the Niners are looking to climb to .500 while the Rams would love to go to 3-1 and bury the Niners early in the season to 1-3. This matchup is always fascinating and full of memorable moments, and this episode in the saga shouldn’t disappoint.
I am excited to watch this game, personally, as something about this matchup just gets my juices flowing. I find both of these offenses intriguing, for very different reasons, and I feel tonight both teams will have opportunities to make some plays.
Here are the props I am focusing on, featuring a couple of household names and a few sneaky plays. Lets dive in…
Deebo Samuel o89.5 rush/rec yards (-114) BetOnline
I am going to start with one of my favorite players to watch and bet on. I posted this on Twitter this morning (go follow me @SweatpantsJesus) when I saw this line and after looking even deeper into it, I love it even more.
Deebo maybe has been a little slow out of the gate this year but his involvement in this offense is too good to ignore. I also think that Jimmy G taking over the reigns from Trey Lance two weeks ago after his season-ending ankle break will benefit Deebo moving forward.
Its Jimmy’s team again and while he hasn’t looked great to start, his connection with Deebo was a bright spot in this offense the last two seasons and I expect Kyle Shanahan to lean on that tonight and moving forward. That’s the narrative but here’s the numbers to back it up.
In the two matchups between the Rams last season, Deebo hit this mark with Rec yards alone and while he has only hit it in one of the first three games so far this year, look for the Niners to go to Deebo early and often tonight.
I bet he scores as well but more on that later…in the mean time, let’s stay with the Niners and the other main ball carrier.
Jeff Wilson o55.5 rush yards (-113) BetOnline
I love spots where the books haven’t quite adjusted to a player filling a starting role but still set his line as if he isn’t the main ball carrier. We saw it on Sunday with Jamaal Williams, who crushed his 67.5 line with 100+ on the ground.
This is a similar spot. This number is just too low for Wilson, who will be the lead back in a run-heavy offense. Since taking over for Elijah Mitchell in Week two as the lead back, he has soared over 56 yards on the ground, with 75 and 84 yards respectively.
The Niners want to control the clock, win the game in the trenches, and pound the ball on the ground, in lots of creative ways. Wilson, along with Deebo, will carry the load and at the low number of 55.5 yards, I love Wilson to feast tonight.
Keeping the Rams offense on the sideline will be key and feeding Wilson is the recipe to do that. Speaking of the Rams offense, they will still get theirs and that starts with…
Cooper Kupp o93.5 Rec yards (-113) BetOnline
I don’t feel like this play needs a lot of explaining but hey, you came here for the stats, so here we go. Kupp has started this season exactly how he ended last season: on fire. His connection with Matthew Stafford is palpable and seems to only be getting better and better.
He hit his yards in both matchups with the Niners last year and in two of the first three games to start the season this year. It’s a high number, sure, but it is high for a reason and in these prime time games, you go to your best players.
Kupp Any Time TD is also a fine look too at -110 but for me, I am gonna go with the volume and trust the connection with Stafford. While I think Stafford plays well tonight, I think he makes some mistakes, which is why I am also going with…
Stafford to throw an INT (-125) BetOnline
Something about this matchup against the Niners gives Stafford and head Coach Sean McVay headaches. I do think Stafford plays well tonight but he is prone to an error or two, and a bad ball.
He already has five picks to start the season and in both matchups with the Niners last year, he had two picks in both games. At the -125 value for one bad decision and the recent history and current form, I will take that all day and twice on Sundays (or I guess Mondays….well, you know what I mean).
As I mentioned earlier, this game should be fun and drama-filled. So in the spirit of fun, let’s finish with a plus money play that I think I love the most out of all of these plays. I teased it earlier so if you stuck around…here’s the goods.
Deebo Samuel ATTD (+130) Fan Duel
I think we see a vintage Deebo game tonight. He had two TDs in both matchups last season, running and catching. He is going to be involved early and often and I could even see him taking a big one to the house.
However he wants to do it, doesn’t matter to me. As long as he breaks the plane, I am a happy guy. And at plus money, say less!
I am excited to watch this game and hopefully cash all of these bets. It will be a good game of football either way and I hope you enjoy it as much as I will.
