Patriots vs. Jets Analysis & Breakdown
Both the Jets and Patriots enter this week’s matchup sitting at 1-1. The Jets have started the 2024/25 season with back to back games on the road, and now host the Patriots in their home opener.
This Thursday Night Football game will mark the first time Rodgers’ has played a regular season game at MetLife, since going down in Week 1 of last season. Jets’ fans everywhere will be on the edge of their seats, and MetLife will be rocking.
New England looks a lot better than most people expected. They upset the Bengals, on the road, in Week 1; and nearly upset the Seahawks last week at Gillette Stadium.
Starting quarterback Jacoby Brissett has looked decent, averaging just 135 yards per game with 1 touchdown pass on the season. More importantly, he hasn’t turned the ball over. As long as Brissett doesn’t turn the ball over, this Patriots offense will move the ball.
The Pats rank 5th in rush yards this year, averaging 177.5 yards per game on 37.5 rush attempts per game (3rd). The Patriots commitment to the run has been clear, and with how well it’s working, I don’t expect them to change up their gameplan.
Rhamondre Stevenson o14.5 Receiving Yards (-116) via BetOnline – Get a $500 WELCOME BONUS
Rhamondre Stevenson has been the center piece of this entire New England Patriots offense.
Through 2 weeks, Stevenson has 201 yards, 2 touchdowns, 5 catches and 51 total touches. To kind of put that into perspective, Brissett’s thrown the ball 51 total times this year.
Stevenson has out-snapped backup Antonio Gibson, 100-30, and he’s 2nd on the team in receptions. Through two weeks, Hunter Henry leads the Patriots with 10 catches on 15 targets for 127 yards and Stevenson sits 2nd with 5 receptions on 8 targets for just 15 total yards.
Stevenson saw just 3 targets in the Week 1 win over the Bengals, but with the Patriots playing with the lead for most of the game, Stevenson was able to exploit them on the ground.
Last week in a 3-point loss to the Seahawks, he saw 3 receptions on 5 targets, mainly due to the Patriots being forced to pass the ball more.
This week the Pats enter the game as a 6-point dog, on the road and they’ll be without starting LT Vederian Lowe and starting LG Sidy Sow. New England may also be forced to play without their starting C, David Andrews and might even be missing their starting RT Mike Onwenu.
The Patriots have allowed Brissett to be sacked six times in 2 games and now with so many questions surrounding their offensive line, they’ll need to get the ball out of Brissett hands. Look for some quick dump-offs to Stevenson to help alleviate the pressure and get Stevenson into space.
The Jets have also given up 96 receiving yards to opposing backs this year, ranked 6th worst in the NFL. Get the ball to Rhamondre, get out of the way.

Garrett Wilson o65.5 Receiving Yards (-119) via BetOnline – Get a $500 WELCOME BONUS
The Jets finally won a game with Aaron Rodgers under center. It only took 20 weeks of NFL action for it to happen, but I guess that’s what happens when you’re forced to sit out an entire season.
Rodgers and the Jets improved to 1-1 last week after a win over Will Levis and the Titans. Rodgers threw for 176 yards through the air and 2 touchdowns, recording a 60% completion rate.
Through two weeks so far, Rodgers is averaging 171.5 passing yards per game and he’s thrown 3 touchdowns to 1 interception. His top target so far has been 3rd year wide receiver Garrett Wilson.
Wilson’s seen 17 targets through the first two weeks, he’s caught 10 passes for 117 total yards and scored no touchdowns.
Despite a 29% target share, Wilson still hasn’t eclipsed 60 yards through the air this year. He’s coming off a game in which he caught 4 of his 6 targets, but still finished with just 57 receiving yards. A big reason he’s struggled is just the fact he’s gone up against top 5 defenses in the first two weeks.
The Titans held Caleb Williams to under 100 yards through the air in Week 1 and followed that up by limited Aaron Rodgers to below 175 yards too. The 49ers have always had a top 5 defense and held Rodgers to just 167 yards passing.
This week the Jets face off with a Patriots’ defense that’s allowed the 4th most receiving yards to opposing wide receivers, and allowed the 6th most passing yards in the NFL. The Patriots also just surrendered 10 catches for 129 yards to DK Metcalf last week, and 12 catches for 117 yards to Jaxson Smith-Njigba.
This is the week we get the Garrett Wilson breakout game.
