See Picks & Statistics For The GameAn AFC East rivalry is highlighted on the NFL Week 3 schedule when the New England Patriots pay a visit to the New York Jets on Sunday. After New England swept the 2022 Patriots vs Jets series, all eyes are on New York to see if it can reverse its fortunes.
The Patriots fell to 0-2 last week with a disappointing 24-17 loss to the rival Miami Dolphins. Meanwhile, the Jets looked absolutely lost without Aaron Rodgers in Week 2, losing 30-10 to the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium.
Can New England continue its dominance over New York? Or will the Jets finally taste victory in this rivalry?
This Patriots vs. Jets betting preview attempts to answer those questions and more. Buckle up as we take a look at the latest odds for this matchup, as well as my thoughts and betting recommendations.

Patriots vs Jets Week 3 Preview
It’s well-documented by now that the Patriots own the Jets’ number. New England has won 14 consecutive games against New York with the latter most recently winning back in December 2015.
As of late, a lackluster offense is a key reason why the Jets can’t beat their AFC East rival. New York has scored more than 20 points just once during that losing streak and has been outscored by an average of 17.2 points in the last five encounters.
There’s a good chance that offense will be an issue again this weekend. The Jets’ attack looked horrible with Zach Wilson under center last week, scoring just 10 points while turning the ball over four times and only going 1-of-10 on third-down attempts.
Following that performance, Wilson now leads the NFL with four interceptions in two games. New York’s awful offensive line isn’t giving him any help, allowing Wilson to face 17 pressures and seven hurries thus far.
Unfortunately for Wilson, I don’t see him having much time to breathe in Week 3.
The Patriots know how to apply pressure to QBs. Through two weeks, they’re tied for running the third-most blitzes (31) while racking up 10 hurries (No. 9) with a hurry on 14.3% of dropbacks (No. 7).
It’s also worth noting that Wilson has close to zero success against the Patriots. On top of an 0-4 record in four games against New England, the ex-BYU product owns a 50.9% completion rate with a 2:7 TD:INT ratio in those encounters.
Speaking of QBs, the Patriots’ Mac Jones has looked solid this season. He’s completed 68.8% of his passes for 547 yards with four TDs to two INTs, giving him some momentum against a Jets defense that gave up 248 yards and a pair of touchdowns through the air last week.
Patriots vs Jets Week 3 Prediction
If Aaron Rodgers was playing, I’d like the Jets’ chances of ending the curse. But he’s out for the foreseeable future and New York is much worse with Wilson leading the charge, meaning I see the Patriots prevailing on the road.
The Patriots should cover the 2.5-point spread, just as they did in each of their five previous meetings with the Jets. New York owns a 3-14 ATS record in its last 17 matchups and Wilson’s mistake-prone play style will make it difficult for the visitors to keep things close.
Prediction: Patriots 20, Jets 16
Patriots -2.5 (-120 on Bovada)
Patriots vs Jets Week 3 Player Prop
As for a Patriots vs. Jets prop bet I’m eyeing, I like the idea of Hunter Henry scoring an anytime touchdown.
Henry has been productive as one of Jones’ favorite weapons, already turning 13 targets into 11 catches for 108 yards and a pair of touchdowns. I see that success continuing against the Jets, who’ve given up 11 receptions (T-8th most) and two TDs to tight ends (T-2nd most) to tight ends through two weeks.
In other words, as long as he keeps seeing targets, Henry is a legitimate threat to score come Sunday.
Bet: Hunter Henry Anytime Touchdown (+245 on Bovada)
