See Picks & Statistics For The GameIf Monday night was any indication of how the Cincinnati Bengals will perform without Ja’Marr Chase, will the reigning AFC champions be in for a tough several weeks? A strong bounce back is needed on Sunday against the visiting Carolina Panthers.
In Monday’s 32-13 loss to the rival Cleveland Browns, the Bengals were held to a season low in points and managed only 229 yards.
But offense wasn’t the only issue, as the Browns tallied 440 total yards and a season high in points in defeating the Bengals for the eighth time in nine games.
Was the loss more about Cleveland just having Cincinnati’s number? Or is it a sign that the Bengals’ AFC title defense is in serious peril?
As for the Panthers, they are looking to regroup from snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory after nearly snatching victory out of the jaws of defeat not once, not twice, but three times in the late stages of regulation and overtime against the Atlanta Falcons.

Carolina’s Offense Trending Up with Walker, Foreman
While the ending couldn’t have gone any worse for the Panthers, things at least appear to be headed in the right track on offense after positive results against the Buccaneers and Falcons.
After racking up 173 rushing yards and outgaining the Bucs overall in their 21-3 win in Week 7, the Panthers racked up 478 total yards in last Sunday’s 37-34 loss to the Falcons.
Running back D’Onta Foreman ran for 118 yards and three touchdowns on 26 carries at Atlanta, following his 118-yard game against the Bucs.
And while QB PJ Walker wasn’t as accurate against the Falcons (19 of 36) as he was against the Bucs (16 of 22), he finished with 317 yards and this Hail Mary to D.J. Moore, which should have been a game-winning score.
Can they keep things trending up for a third straight week? The Bengals allowed 172 yards rushing against the Browns, 101 by Nick Chubb, and they also allowed Jacoby Brissett (17 of 22, 278 yards) to have his best game of the season.
So, the Panthers definitely have reason to go into Cincinnati with some confidence that they can score some points.
Carolina Panthers vs. Cincinnati Bengals Prediction and Best Bets
Panthers vs. Bengals Prediction: Bengals to win
Panthers vs. Bengals Best Bets: Bengals to cover (Best Value: -7 @ -115 at BetMGM) & Panthers/Bengals over (Best Value: over 42.5 @ -110 at BetOnline, Bovada Sportsbook & BetMGM)
Their loss in Cleveland was rough in all respects, with the offense failing to score until the fourth quarter and the defense allowing the Browns to have their best scoring output since they put up 41 against the Bengals in Cincinnati in Week 9 last season.
But I expect them to bounce back this week against the Panthers, both offensively and in the win column.
I do think Carolina will continue to be able to move the ball and contribute to the over hitting comfortably, but this team is too talented to get too down after one ugly performance.
Panthers vs. Bengals Prop Picks
- D’Onta Foreman over 69.5 rushing yards (-117 at BetUS): The Bengals are 16th in the NFL in yards allowed per carry (4.4) and 21st in rushing yards allowed per game (125.6). After back-to-back 100-yard games against the Bucs and Falcons, Foreman should have another productive game against Cincinnati.
