The 2023 NFL season continues after another weekend of excitement. Fast forward to Monday and the NFL Week 5 schedule is right around the corner, meaning we’re nearly a third of the way through the regular season.
Even with one more Week 4 matchup to go, it isn’t too early to look ahead to the upcoming 14-game slate. Keeping that in mind, here’s a look at the early NFL Week 5 odds, along with a quick prediction for each upcoming clash.
All NFL Week 5 odds are courtesy of BetOnline at 10:55 a.m. ET on Monday, Oct. 2.
Bye Week Teams: Browns, Chargers, Seahawks, Buccaneers
NFL Week 5 Thursday Night Football Odds
Bears vs Commanders Odds
- Record: Chicago Bears (0-4) vs. Washington Commanders (2-2)
- Time: 8:15 p.m. ET
- Location: FedExField — Landover, MD
- Spread: Bears +6.5 (-108) | Commanders -6.5 (-112)
- Total: OVER 44.5 (-115) | UNDER 44.5 (-105)
- Moneyline: Bears +240 | Commanders -285
The Bears continue looking for their first win of the season following a heart-breaking 31-28 loss to the Denver Broncos. Meanwhile, the Commanders picked up their second straight defeat in the form of a 34-31 OT loss to the rival Philadelphia Eagles.
There just isn’t a reason to have faith in the Bears on the road. They’re, by far, the worst NFL team this season and now must take on the Commanders, who came close to defeating the Super Bowl LVII runners-up.
Don’t overthink things: back the home team on Thursday night.
Bears vs Commanders Prediction: WAS 28, CHI 17
Bears vs Commanders Best Bet: WAS -6.5 (-112)
NFL Week 5 Early Sunday Odds
Jaguars vs Bills Odds
- Record: Jacksonville Jaguars (2-2) vs. Buffalo Bills (3-1)
- Time: 9:30 a.m. ET
- Location: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (London, U.K.)
- Spread: Jaguars +5.5 (-110) | Bills -5.5 (-110)
- Total: OVER 48 (-105) | UNDER 48 (-115)
- Moneyline: Jaguars +205 | Bills -245
The Jaguars returned to London in style last week, earning a 23-7 win over the Atlanta Falcons. On the flip side, the Bills have now won three games in a row following a 48-20 win against the Miami Dolphins that saw WR Stefon Diggs catching three touchdown passes.
While the Jaguars were solid last week, the Bills looked like Super Bowl favorites. Buffalo’s offense and defense are firing on all cylinders at the moment and I just can’t see Jacksonville being equipped to stop that.
Jaguars vs Bills Prediction: BUF 31, JAX 20
Jaguars vs Bills Best Bet: Over 48 Points (-105)
Texans vs Falcons Odds
- Record: Houston Texans (2-2) vs. Atlanta Falcons (2-2)
- Time: 1 p.m. ET
- Location: Mercedes-Benz Stadium (Atlanta, GA)
- Spread: Texans +1 (-110) | Falcons -1 (-110)
- Total: OVER 40.5 (-110) | UNDER 40.5 (-110)
- Moneyline: Texans -102 | Falcons -118
The Texans looked good in Week 4 as WR Nico Collins’ 168-yard, two-touchdown performance led them to a 30-6 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Meanwhile, the Falcons return to America after losing 23-7 to the Jaguars in London.
I’m shocked to see the Falcons as favorites here. They’ve been held to a combined 13 points over the last two weeks while losing each contest by an average 15-point margin.
With momentum on their side, I expect the Texans to march into Atlanta and leave Mercedes-Benz Stadium with their third win of the year.
Texans vs Falcons Prediction: HOU 20, ATL 13
Texans vs Falcons Best Bet: HOU ML (-102)
Panthers vs Lions Odds
- Record: Carolina Panthers (0-4) vs. Detroit Lions (3-1)
- Time: 1 p.m. ET
- Location: Ford Field (Detroit, MI)
- Spread: Panthers +9 (-110) | Lions -9 (-110)
- Total: OVER 44 (-110) | UNDER 44 (-110)
- Moneyline: Panthers +330 | Lions -410
The Panthers head into the NFL Week 5 slate winless following a 21-13 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. The Lions, on the other hand, cruised to their second of back-to-back victories as they hammered the rival Green Bay Packers, 34-20, on Thursday night.
The Lions are one of the best teams this season and could’ve been 4-0 if overtime had gone their way in Week 2. They won’t have an issue beating the Panthers, who’ve looked terrible with the eighth-worst averaging scoring margin (minus-8.8) thus far.
Dan Campbell’s squad will find a way to get ahead earlier before never looking back once.
Panthers vs Lions Prediction: DET 28, CAR 16
Panthers vs Lions Best Bet: DET -9 (-110)
Titans vs Colts Odds
- Record: Tennessee Titans (2-2) vs. Indianapolis Colts (2-2)
- Time: 1 p.m. ET
- Location: Lucas Oil Stadium (Indianapolis, IN)
- Spread: Titans +1 (-105) | Colts -1 (-115)
- Total: OVER 42.5 (-110) | UNDER 42.5 (-110)
- Moneyline: Titans +102 | Colts -122
The Titans return to the road after scoring a 27-3 win over the Cincinnati Bengals at Nissan Stadium. At the same time, the Colts are searching for answers after their comeback fell short in Sunday’s 29-23 OT loss to the LA Rams.
After looking more like themselves last week, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Titans squeeze out a win. It’s just hard to trust the Colts after trailing 20-0 at halftime to the Rams. Yes, Indy eventually came back, but Shane Steichen & Co. can’t afford to play from behind every week.
Nevertheless, don’t be surprised if this is a slow, grind-it-out game between two AFC South rivals with a lot to prove.
Titans vs Colts Prediction: TEN 20, IND 17
Titans vs Colts Best Bet: Under 42.5 Points (-110)
Giants vs Dolphins Odds
- Record: New York Giants (1-2) vs. Miami Dolphins (3-1)
- Time: 1 p.m. ET
- Location: Hard Rock Stadium (Miami Gardens, FL)
- Spread: Giants TBD (TBD) | Dolphins TBD (TBD)
- Total: OVER TBD (TBD) | UNDER TBD (TBD)
- Moneyline: Giants TBD | Dolphins TBD
Odds aren’t available for this NFL Week 5 clash as the Giants still haven’t faced the Seahawks on Monday Night Football. What we do know is that the Dolphins want some revenge after being blowout 48-20 by the rival Bills.
After being embarrassed in Week 4, I see the Dolphins making an example of the Giants. New York can’t handle elite teams, highlighted by it giving up a combined 70 points to the Cowboys and 49ers.
With how dangerous Miami’s attack has looked this year, I expect more of the same struggles from the road team.
Giants vs Dolphins Prediction: MIA 34, NYG 20
Giants vs Dolphins Best Bet: TBD
Saints vs Patriots Odds
- Record: New Orleans Saints (2-2) vs. New England Patriots (1-3)
- Time: 1 p.m. ET
- Location: Gillette Stadium (Foxboro, MA)
- Spread: Saints +1.5 (-110) | Patriots -1.5 (-110)
- Total: OVER 38.5 (-115) | UNDER 38.5 (-105)
- Moneyline: Saints +105 | Patriots -125
Neither of these teams had much luck in Week 4. The Saints couldn’t get much going in a 26-9 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers while the Patriots were left beaten and embarrassed, losing 38-3 to the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium.
I’m not a huge fan of wagering on this matchup after how last week went, but if I must choose, I’ll side with New Orleans. New England hasn’t looked right, being outscored by an average of 10.5 points per game (5th-worst). Things don’t look like they’ll get any better after starting QB Mac Jones was pulled against the Cowboys.
Unless the Patriots have a complete turnaround, this game is the Saints’ to lose.
Saints vs Patriots Prediction: NO 23, NE 17
Saints vs Patriots Best Bet: Over 38.5 Points (-115)
Ravens vs Steelers Odds
- Record: Baltimore Ravens (3-1) vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (2-2)
- Time: 1 p.m. ET
- Location: Acrisure Stadium (Pittsburgh, PA)
- Spread: Ravens -4.5 (-110) | Steelers +4.5 (-110)
- Total: OVER 40 (-107) | UNDER 42.5 (-113)
- Moneyline: Ravens -215 | Steelers +185
The Ravens got back on track last week, notching a huge 28-3 win over the rival Cleveland Browns on the road. The same could not be said for the Steelers, who fell 30-6 to the Texans.
In an AFC North showdown, I’ve got the Ravens winning. Their loss to the Colts was an anomaly, proven by last week’s victory. The Steelers are also giving up the fourth-most rushing yards in the league, which is bad news considering how much Baltimore loves running the ball.
Once the visitors get a decent-sized lead, the Ravens won’t have an issue running out the clock en route to their fourth win.
Ravens vs Steelers Prediction: BAL 24, PIT 16
Ravens vs Steelers Best Bet: BAL -4.5 (-110)

NFL Week 5 Odds — Late Sunday Games
Eagles vs Rams Odds
- Record: Philadelphia Eagles (4-0) vs. LA Rams (2-2)
- Time: 4:05 p.m. ET
- Location: SoFi Stadium (Inglewood, CA)
- Spread: Eagles -4.5 (-106) | Rams +4.5 (-114)
- Total: OVER 48 (-110) | UNDER 48 (-110)
- Moneyline: Eagles -210 | Rams +180
The Eagles continue to flirt with perfection, edging out a 34-31 OT win against the Commanders at home. Meanwhile, the Rams returned to the win column in Week 4 as they avoided a collapse in their 29-23 OT victory over the Colts.
Even with their newfound momentum, the Rams are in trouble. The Eagles are great away from home, winning nine of their last 10 away contests. On top of that, Philly is 6-1 ATS in its last seven road matchups against LA.
Finding a new way to win every week, expect business as usual from the Eagles.
Eagles vs Rams Prediction: PHI 27, LAR 20
Eagles vs Rams Best Bet: PHI -4.5 (-106)
Bengals vs Cardinals Odds
- Record: Cincinnati Bengals (1-3) vs. Arizona Cardinals (1-3)
- Time: 4:05 p.m. ET
- Location: State Farm Stadium (Glendale, AZ)
- Spread: Bengals -4 (-106) | Cardinals +4 (-114)
- Total: OVER 42.5 (-108) | UNDER 42.5 (-112)
- Moneyline: Bengals -183 | Cardinals +163
Tension continues to increase for the Bengals following their 27-3 Week 4 loss to the Titans. The Cardinals, on the other hand, return to State Farm Stadium after getting hammered 35-16 by the San Francisco 49ers.
While the Bengals should win this game, it could be closer than oddsmakers expect. The Cardinals have played better than expected this season with two of their three losses coming by four or fewer points.
With the way that Cincinnati’s offense has struggled (12.3 PPG, No. 32), Arizona is in a good spot to keep this NFL Week 5 matchup close.
Bengals vs Cardinals Prediction: CIN 21, ARI 18
Bengals vs Cardinals Best Bet: ARI +4 (-114)
Jets vs Broncos Odds
- Record: New York Jets (1-3) vs. Denver Broncos (1-3)
- Time: 4:25 p.m. ET
- Location: Empower Field at Mile High (Denver, CO)
- Spread: Jets +2 (-110) | Broncos -2 (-110)
- Total: OVER 43 (-108) | UNDER 43 (-112)
- Moneyline: Jets +115 | Broncos -135
The Jets couldn’t take advantage of the Kansas City Chief’s lackluster play in Week 4, losing 23-20 at MetLife Stadium. On the other side, the Broncos hope for more good fortune after picking up their first win — a 31-28 victory over the slumping Bears.
The Broncos showed a lot of heart last week, but I’m chalking that up to the Bears completely blowing a 28-7 lead. The Jets’ defense won’t collapse as easily. Furthermore, I like how Zach Wilson played under center against the Chiefs, completing 71.8% of passes for 245 yards and a pair of TDs.
Assuming Wilson’s showing wasn’t a one-off performance, look for the Jets to return to the win column.
Jets vs Broncos Prediction: NYJ 21, DEN 19
Jets vs Broncos Best Bet: NYJ ML (+115)
Chiefs vs Vikings Odds
- Record: Kansas City Chiefs (3-1) vs. Minnesota Vikings (1-3)
- Time: 4:25 p.m. ET
- Location: U.S. Bank Stadium (Minneapolis, MN)
- Spread: Chiefs -5 (-112) | Vikings +5 (-108)
- Total: OVER 52 (-110) | UNDER 52 (-110)
- Moneyline: Chiefs -240 | Vikings +200
The Chiefs improved to 2-0 in the Taylor Swift era with Sunday night’s 23-20 win against the Jets. The Vikings, meanwhile, are coming off their first victory of the season which saw them beat the Panthers, 21-13, behind Justin Jefferson’s two-TD performance.
Kansas City looked vulnerable last week, but I trust Andy Reid to get his players back on track. The Vikings haven’t beaten anyone except the winless Panthers and have already dropped their first two outings at U.S. Bank Stadium this season.
With Minnesota’s defense being suspect this season while Kansas City’s attack is due for a bounce back, taking the points is the best bet here.
Chiefs vs Vikings Prediction: KC 31, MIN 24
Chiefs vs Vikings Best Bet: Over 52 Points (-110)
NFL Week 5 Sunday Night Football Odds
Cowboys vs 49ers Odds
- Record: Dallas Cowboys (3-1) vs. San Francisco 49ers (4-0)
- Time: 8:20 p.m. ET
- Location: Levi’s Stadium (Santa Clara, CA)
- Spread: Cowboys +3.5 (-115) | 49ers -3.5 (-105)
- Total: OVER 45 (-110) | UNDER 45 (-110)
- Moneyline: Cowboys +160 | 49ers -180
The Cowboys returned to their winning ways last week with a huge 38-3 blowout win against the Patriots. The 49ers were involved in a lopsided affair of their own, cruising to a 35-16 win over the Cardinals as RB Christian McCaffrey racked up a quartet of TDs.
In what is the most anticipated NFL Week 5 game, I’m taking the 49ers to win. On top of having the home-field advantage, San Francisco’s undefeated record can’t be ignored. Dallas is good, too, but that loss to Arizona will continue to hurt Jerry Jones’ team until they decisively beat a Super Bowl contender.
The Cowboys are also 1-4 ATS against their last five NFC West opponents while the 49ers are 9-0 ATS in their last nine games at Levi’s Stadium, meaning it’s best to take the home team to cover.
Cowboys vs 49ers Prediction: SF 28, DAL 23
Cowboys vs 49ers Best Bet: SF -3.5 (-105)
NFL Week 5 Monday Night Football Odds
Packers vs Raiders Odds
- Record: Green Bay Packers (2-2) vs. Las Vegas Raiders (1-3)
- Time: 8:15 p.m. ET
- Location: Allegiant Stadium (Las Vegas, NV)
- Spread: Packers -1 (-115) | Raiders +1 (-105)
- Total: OVER 44 (-110) | UNDER 44 (-110)
- Moneyline: Packers -127 | Raiders +107
Luck wasn’t on the Packers side as they fell 34-20 to the Lions last Thursday. The same could be said for the Raiders, whose 24-17 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers marked the franchise’s third loss in a row.
While neither team has consistently impressed in 2023, the Raiders have been much worse. Las Vegas’ defense hasn’t been able to stop a nosebleed lately, leading to a minus-13.3 average scoring margin over the last three games — fourth-worst across the NFL during that span.
If Green Bay can finally get the run game going, this game could end more in the Packers’ favor than the odds imply.
Packers vs Raiders Prediction: GB 24, LV 17
Packers vs Raiders Best Bet: GB -1 (-115)
