Finding those hidden gems in your fantasy football lineup can be the difference between a win and a loss, especially in the early stages of the NFL season. This article aims to identify two sneaky starts for NFL fantasy for Week 5 of the 2024-2025 NFL season.
This season feels like the injury bug has been particularly brutal. Offensive weapons from different positions have been banged up or already put on the PUP or IR list. Just today Malik Nabers has been ruled out. So let’s look at three players who may still be available or on your bench who have tasty matches this week.
So let’s get into it! Here are three sneaky starts that can give you that much-needed boost in Week 5: Here are some NFL fantasy starts and a best bet
1. Mike Williams o33.5 passing yards -115 on BetOnline:
Aaron Rodgers has always loved his big receivers. And Mike Williams is just that. Through the first four games of the season William’s targets have consistently gone up. He has had 9 targets in his past two games, and Williams is the type of player who can make big plays from limited receptions.
Last week Williams hauled in four receptions for 67 yard, averaging 16.75 YPC. This week he will be facing off agains the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings have been letting teams air it out against them. This season they are allowing the passing yards against (274.3 average) and the most passing attempts against.
This is a prime spot for Aaron Rodgers to feed multiple targets. This game will also most likely be a shootout as the Vikings have been one of the hottest teams in the league. Williams could be a sneaky NFL fantasy starts due to his big play ability, the game script and the fact that Williams is due for a touchdown. Not only is Mike Williams a sneaky NFL fantasy start his o33.5 reception yards looks like a great correlated bet.

2. Cam Akers o51.5 receptions for -115 on BetOnline:
Running back Joe Mixon of the Houston Texans has been ruled out again. This leads to a prime opportunity for backup Cam Akers to make an impact. Last week he had 53 rushing yards. He also had 13 rushing attempts filling in for Mixon.
Mixon is added to the long list of running backs and skilled players who are facing injuries right now. Houston is chalk full of weapons with Stefon Diggs, Tank Dell and Nico Collins keeping the secondary honest. It will be impossible to stack the box. And to make this even tastier Buffalo is allowing 3rd most rushing yards against, averaging 156.5 yards per game. They also allow the 22nd most rushing attacks against.
While Houston will most likely be fighting to stay in the game against the Bills, they may need utilize the run game to exploit Buffalo’s weakness. Akers has found success on the Rams before injury derailed his career. If you are needing a roster player Akers can be a great waiver wire pick up with upside this week. That all adds up to Akers being one of my favorite deep NFL fantasy starts.
