Today will be the conclusion of the NFL Fantasy value pick series here at Betting News! That means kickoff is just around the corner and we will all be living under a cozy blanket of football until March of 2025! So while you prep for your NFL Fantasy drafts, be sure to check out each part of the value picks series. Yesterday we covered my two favorite tight ends to select in the middle rounds of the draft. Now it’s time to find value in the late rounds!
This is an ongoing series to highlight players who REEK of value in NFL fantasy drafts. We aren’t talking about McCaffrey with the 1st overall pick, but instead we are going to be finding gems. Each article will feature a position within a range of draft rounds (we will always skip the 1st round). We will assume that these picks are for 12-team leagues with .5 PPR and will not be discussing in terms of Superflex. On top of that I’ll highlight a futures bet that corresponds with each player, all of whose odds can be found on BETONLINE.
So without further ado, let’s kick it off with NFL fantasy football 2024 late round value picks: the tight ends. It’s mock draft season baby!!!
1. Tight End Value Rounds 8-15: Dallas Goedert
What if I told you that you could draft a tight end who has been top 10 in his position in the last two seasons of NFL fantasy in the 11th round? Cole Kmet has been sneakily producing on a Chicago Bears team who has been upgraded in nearly every position. He has ranked ahead of guys like Goedert, Schuultz, Freiermuth and even Pitts but can be had later than all of those names.
Yes, the receiving core is more crowded with the additions of Rome Odunze and Keenan Allen. But on the flip side, Kmet may now have his franchise quarterback throwing to him with the Bears’ addition of Caleb Williams. Kmet has shown steady improvement in recent seasons, becoming a more reliable target for the Chicago Bears. The 25 year old TE had his best season last year with 719 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns from 73 receptions.
With a new head coach and offensive scheme, Kmet could see an expanded role and increased target share in 2025. A crowded backfield could potentially make it much harder to defend Kmet. This would give him more space to make large plays, which was something he struggled to find last season. Last season he was a steady fantasy producer all year long. This is the perfect addition for teams who prefer to wait to draft tight ends in NFL Fantasy.
Caleb Williams o22.5 passing touchdowns -122 on BetOnline:
Kmet isn’t offered for any future props, but rookie quarterback Caleb Williams is, and will be tied to Kmet’s success. I love this prop of over 22.5 touchdowns. Not only could Kmet nab 5-6 touchdowns, but the receiving core of DJ Moore, Keenan Allen and Rome Odzune is borderline a top 5 unit in the league. Last season only Sam Howell, Trevor Lawrence and Geno Smith threw less than 23 touchdowns for starting quaterbacks who played over half the season. This is a low bench mark for a talented rookie to hit.

2. NFL Fantasy Rounds 8-15 Tight Ends: TJ Hockenson
This is the punt that could be a league winning move. TJ Hockenson was the 4th ranked tight end in NFL fantasy last season, the 2nd best in the 2022 season and has another top 5 finish in his five NFL seasons. He was an elite prospect coming into the NFL and since the 2020 season has been one of the premier tight ends in the league. He can be had in the 11th round or later, and with good reason.
Hockenson tore his ACL and MCL late into the season. He is still in the recovery process and is on the PUP list, meaning he will miss the first four games of the season. For teams who are looking to draft a quarterback early and fill out their RB and WR slots, he is the perfect upside pick late in NFL fantasy drafts. With the Vikings he has had four or more receptions in 22 of 25 games, and has 8 touchdowns in those games. In his previous two seasons he was just shy of 1,000 receiving yards.
There are other question marks in Minnesota. Sam Darnold with be the starting quarterback and he doesn’t have the most favorable track record. But that may also mean he will rely on Hockenson for short outlet passes and be a favorite redzone target. This is no doubt a risky play, but if you draft someone like Kmet or Shultz late in the draft, TJ Hockenson can be a deadly addition to have a top player in their position for the last half of the season.
