See Picks & Statistics For The GameThe latest edition of the Jets-Patriots rivalry sees both teams in the same boat, which we have rarely seen over the last two decades. Both of these teams are starting rookie quarterbacks, and both are playing like teams starting rookie quarterbacks. Neither has looked all that good. There are better options on today’s NFL betting board, but if you plan to bet on or watch this matchup, don’t expect a classic.
For the Jets, they also have a rookie head coach in Robert Saleh. That combination is definitely not one for any sort of immediate success.
In New England, they have a defense that might be good enough to win some games. One of those games was their Week 2 road win over the Jets, and this should be another one.

New York Jets vs New England Patriots Betting Outlook
The Jets are coming off of their bye week, but with a rookie coach, we have no book on how they used it. There are a lot of things to correct, but they definitely need to find a way to get more offensive production.
The Jets are last in the NFL in scoring and second to last in yards. Zach Wilson has had a few moments, but most of the time he has not looked very good. To be fair he is not surrounded with much in the way of skill talent, but he is not doing anything with what he has either. It is hard to imagine this side getting fixed during the season. There are just too many holes.
On defense the Jets are respectable, allowing 24 points per game, which is 19th in the league. I suppose that is somewhat more impressive given how much time that group spends on the field. In this one, they get to gameplan for a rookie QB, so perhaps they can force some mistakes that give their offense a chance. There is no reason not to be aggressive on defense against Mac Jones.
New England Needs More Offense Too
The Patriots' offense is definitely more functional than the Jets, but that is a pretty low bar. Jones has completed 71 percent of his passes, but that is only so impressive when you consider the results. He averages only seven yards per attempt, which is one of the lowest totals in the league. He also has six interceptions to only seven touchdowns, which is a high number of picks with such a conservative offense.
The Patriots don’t run the ball well either, and it feels like anytime they score they need 12 or more plays to do so. When you have to generate long drives, there is just too much chance for something to go wrong.
The Patriots have the edge on defense, and while they are not elite, they should be good enough to get the job done if the offense can do its part. Linebacker Matt Judon was one of the more underrated pickups of the offseason and leads the team with 6.5 sacks. They definitely make more splash plays on defense than offense this season.

- The Patriots are 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 games in Week 7.
- In their last 15 home games against a team with a losing road record, the Patriots are 12-3 ATS.

New York Jets vs New England Patriots Best Bet
New England Patriots -7
Truthfully neither of these teams inspires much confidence and I was surprised that the number is a full 7 points here. Nevertheless, I think you have to go with what you know in this spot, and that is coach Bill Belichick and the Patriots. They are not going to slice through the Jets' defense, but they should be able to play with a lead most of the game and force some critical mistakes by Wilson. It won’t be pretty, but it should work.
Prop Watch: Jonnu Smith to Score a TD Anytime
I went with his yards prop in the props article but am mixing it up with the TD scorer prop here. In short, they have not been using him enough since acquiring him in free agency. Also, New England loves to mix it up and feature players the opposing defense won’t expect. Look for Smith to have a big game today.
New York Jets vs New England Patriots Score Prediction
New England Patriots 24, New York Jets 13
