Tonight’s matchup between the Colts and Jets is definitely looking like another Thursday night dud. But our focus is on NFL betting, not entertainment, and there is money to be made on tonight’s action in Indy.

The Jets are awful. Their win over Cincinnati last week, with a backup quarterback, was one of the least likely results we will see this season. The key is to put it into proper context.

The Colts have been hanging in there in the AFC South. With Derrick Henry potentially out for the rest of the regular season, maybe they can bridge the gap with the Titans. Maybe.

New York Jets vs Indianapolis Colts Best Bet

Indianapolis Colts -10.5

Beating anyone after a 41-point loss to the Patriots the week before would have been surprising. For the Jets to beat the surging Bengals was a total shock last week. Thanks to the deft passing of Mike White they scored a season-high 34 points against Cincinnati. He threw for over 400 yards as the interim starter and may have to again for the Jets to compete this evening. The defense gave up 31 points in the win, and that has been pretty close to the norm for the season. They are 30th in the NFL in points allowed.

I feel like it is now do or die every week for the Colts. These next two weeks especially. They suffered a tough OT loss to the Titans last week, but back-to-back games against the Jets and Jags could be wins that get them back to .500 after 10 games.

In the loss to Tennessee, Carson Wentz was back to his turnover-prone ways. While I never like to pin a loss on one player, he really killed their chances with some bad mistakes. This is a game where he should really be able to settle in. The defense is solid and ranks in the NFL with 18 takeaways. Against an inexperienced QB like White, they should cause at least a couple of turnovers.

I am not really a fan of anything the Jets are doing right now, so even though they won last week, you still have to fade them this week. The Colts are not at the top of my contender list, but they can win each half by a TD. And with the way the Jets have struggled on offense all season, I don’t worry as much about the backdoor cover.

Prop Watch: Michael Carter Over 4.5 Receptions (+108)

The Jets are showing that they are not shy about throwing the ball with White directing the offense. They are going to need to again too. Carter has become a major part of the attack, including a team-leading nine catches last week. They are not going to forget about him this week, and at plus value this is a great find.
