See Picks & Statistics For The GameSunday Night Football is down in Jerry’s World this week as the Cincinnati Bengals look to stop their losing streak against the Dallas Cowboys, who are trending in the other direction. Both teams have had character building seasons to say the very least, but both do have a small shot at the playoffs, so things are not totally lost yet!
Like I said, the Bengals are foundering. They’ve now lost three straight games, despite scoring 33 points per contest. In fact, the Bengals sit at 4-8 on the season, but are the 3rd highest scoring offense in the AFC. Defensively, they can’t seem to stop anybody. But things may be easier against the Cooper Rush led Cowboys.
Dallas has won two straight games, and are coming off their first home win of the season. They certainly need to string some wins together in the back half of the season, but they’ll need to score to beat Cincy. Can they keep up their offense? Or will the Bengals come to town and give Dallas another loss at home?

Can Cowboys Rally for Another Home Win?
The Cowboys are trending in the right direction. They won against the Giants and upset the Commanders in Washington, but now they have to face a team that is used to dealing with adversity. Their opponent has been in a playoff hunt late in the season before, and know how precious each game can be.
In order to beat Cincinnati, you are probably going to need to score.
They are the 6th highest scoring offense in the NFL, putting up 28 points per game. That number is up to over 33 per contest in their L3, and I’m not sure I see Dallas slowing them down. Dallas is bottom 3 in points allowed per game, but the Bengals are right down there with them! Each unit allowed 28.3 points per contest, with Cincinnati allowed closer to 38 over the past 3 weeks, and Dallas giving up over 34 at Jerry’s World this year.
I agree with the stats, and I think we see some offense tonight. However I’m not rushing to back the Cowboy’s offense as a whole. Even though they’ve put up some points over the last two weeks, they had games where they produced 6 and 10 total points in November. Do I think the momentum the offense has found is a fluke? Not exactly, but I’m not sure they have all the answers quite figured out yet.

I have no interest in backing the Cowboys’ offense to do their part in this over, so instead I’ll pivot and just back the Bengals. They’ve been scoring at will all season long, they just haven’t been able to stop anybody.
Cincinnati is 6th in points per game despite their 4-8 record. They score over 28 points per game, putting up 35 over their last 4 outings, despite losing three of those games. Excluding their Week 1 loss to the Patriots, the Bengals average 30.3 points in their other 7 losses this season. The offense is not the problem at all.
Even though Dallas is on a two game winning streak, they allowed 20 points to a bad Giants offense last week, and are giving up nearly 35 at home this season. In their last 7 games, Dallas has posted a 2-5 record, allowing their opponents to score over 31 points per game. In what I expect to be an offensive slugfest, 28 points for the Bengals should be no problem. At plus money, I’ll gladly back the Cincinnati offense on the road tonight.
