Chiefs vs Jets Week 4 Preview
Before the 2023 NFL season began, fans circled this weekend’s Chiefs vs. Jets showdown on the roster. After all, it was a chance to see Patrick Mahomes trying to out-duel Aaron Rodgers in a quarterback collision for the ages.
Instead, Mahomes has the simple task of needing to beat out Zach Wilson to secure the victory.
Wilson has been nothing short of uninspiring since taking over under center. He’s completed just 52.4% of his passes thus far, averaging a career-low 155.7 passing yards with two touchdowns and four interceptions. On top of that, his 57.0 passer rate is the worst among all 34 QBs who’ve started a game this season.
Meanwhile, the Chiefs’ offense is chugging along, averaging 26.0 PPG (No. 9). They’re coming off a 41-point performance that saw them rack up 303 yards through the air and another 153 on the ground en route to five offensive touchdowns.
Even if the Jets are only giving up 20.3 PPG (No. 12), they’re still surrendering a ton of opportunities.
For starters, they’re still allowing 351.3 total yards per game (No. 20), which includes 129.3 yards on the ground (No. 23). Furthermore, the Jets’ opponents are also converting on 44.0% of third downs (No. 22).
Mahomes & Co. will pounce on these opportunities without a doubt. The Chiefs own the eighth-best third-down conversion rate in the NFL (46.3%) and even scored on 75.0% of their trips to the red zone (T-No. 3).
If the Jets don’t find a way to tighten up on both sides of the ball, things could get ugly before they know it.
Chiefs vs Jets Prediction — NFL Week 4 SNF
If Rodgers was playing, this game would be closer. But the current state of the Jets makes picking the Chiefs to win a no-brainer. Kansas City is ready to make another Super Bowl run while New York will be lucky if it even sniffs the playoff race.
The Chiefs won’t break a sweat as they route the Jets in East Rutherford.
Prediction: Chiefs 31, Bears 16
Chiefs -8.5 (-110 on Bovada)
Chiefs vs Jets Player Prop — Week 4 SNF
Even without the Chiefs vs. Jets player prop odds being out, I already can see Travis Kelce scoring an anytime touchdown.
Dating back to the 2022-23 playoffs, Kelce has six touchdowns in his last five games and has found the end zone in each outing to begin the new season. Meanwhile, the Jets are already allowing the fifth-most yards to tight ends this season and have allowed an NFL-leading three TDs to the position already.
As long as Mahomes continues to look his way, expect another TD from No. 87.
Bet: Travis Kelce Anytime Touchdown (-121 on Bovada)
