The Tampa Bay Buccaneers finished the 2021 regular season tied for the best record at 13-4. They missed out on the automatic bye due to the tie-breaker, but breezed past the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card round.
Their downfall came in the Divisional Round when the Rams defeated them in a wild finish. However, Tampa still had the best overall offense in 2021, and they were #1 in all passing categories.
The Bucs have made some moves this offseason, and their team is looking even more stacked. Tom Brady is back again, even at the age of 45, and the defense looks better than their Top 5 status from last season.

- Buffalo Bills +600
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers +750
- Kansas City Chiefs +1000
- Los Angeles Rams +1100
- Green Bay Packers +1200
The Buccaneers are always going to be a threat with Tom Brady at quarterback. The 3-time MVP had one of his best seasons last year, throwing for 5,316 yards and 43 touchdowns. it was the first time he hit 5,000 yards since the 2011 season.
Age is not a factor with Brady. He looks stronger than ever, and he has weapons to throw to in the best passing offense in the NFL. Brady is, once again, a frontrunner for MVP this season.

Tampa Bay vs. the NFC South
The Bucs are looking like shoe ins for the NFC South title. Two of the teams in the division won’t even come close to competing at the top, and the other has had injury issues at quarterback.
I have the Buccaneers running away with the division this season. They have the best passing offense, and the other three teams struggled against the pass last season. Only the Carolina Panthers ranked in the Top 10 against the pass, but their disfunction lies deeper than their passing defense.
The odds are not kind to the other three teams either, as Tampa is a heavy favorite in the lines. There won’t be much value to pick Tampa outright, but luckily, there are some other ways to bet them for value.

Tampa’s Offensive Line
Last season, the Bucs gave up the least amount of sacks in the NFL. They gave Tom Brady the most amount of time in the pocket, and that turned into a dominating passing game that was unmatched by other teams and opposing defenses.
The offseason and preseason has not been kind to the offensive line in 2022. There are a multitude of injuries and depletions that were highlighted by Alex Cappa leaving for Cincinnati and Ali Marpet stepping away from football.
The situation has only gotten worse, as Aaron Stinnie, the new starting right guard, suffered a massive knee injury in the preseason game against Tennessee. He had to be carted off the field, and now Tampa is left with questions as to who will start.
There has been talk about bringing in new talent, but for now, they are depleted and quite thin compared to last season. This is going to spell trouble for Brady and the passing game, as there will be less protection and more rushed passes.
Can Brady Win His 8th Ring?
With the problems on the offensive line, it will be difficult to utilize all weapons on offense. Veteran Julio Jones, was brought in during the offseason to be another weapon in the air raid style offense. The question is now whether Brady will have time to find him.
The running game will have to improve from last season. They ranked 26th in the running game, and Brady isn’t going to add to the numbers like some other mobile quarterbacks.
Expect the Bucs to run away in the regular season against their division rivals. However, once the playoffs hit, it’s anyone’s guess as to how healthy and efficient this team will be.
I have the Bucs at 13-4 this season, so they will have a shot at the #1 seed. If they can knock off the Rams during the regular season, they will have a greater chance of that happening. The tie-breaker may be necessary as both teams are expected to do well.
I have the Buccaneers in the NFC Title game this season, but I can’t quite get them back to the Super Bowl yet. It could happen, but they will need a lot of help in the running game and o-line.
A good season is on the horizon, even if another ring doesn’t come along with it. They are still one of the most talented teams in the NFL. With Brady’s time wearing thin, he will be hungry as ever for another ring. I just don’t see it happening in 2022.
Buccaneers Final Season Predictions
- 13-4 record
- 5-1 within the NFC South
- Tom Brady over 4,000 passing yards
- #2 seed in NFC Playoffs
- Loss in NFC Championship Game
