See Picks & Statistics For The GameWeek 2 of the 2022 NFL season brings plenty of interesting matchups to look forward to, including an NFC South rivalry game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints. After both teams picked up victories in Week 1, expect a competitive affair as the Bucs and Saints try to remain undefeated.
While placing bets on the moneyline, spread and total can be fine, some bettors are looking for more. Fortunately, Betting News has gathered some of the best Bucs vs. Saints player props and team prop bets for you to take advantage of heading into the weekend.
Best Bucs vs. Saints Team Prop Bets
All player props and team prop bets are via BetOnline Sportsbook (unless stated otherwise) as of Friday, Sept. 16 at 8:41 a.m. ET.
Away Total Point: Over 23.5 (-118)
When it comes to the Bucs vs. Saints matchups over the years, the away time tends to put up quite a lot of points. Ignoring the rivals’ last game, which ended in a 9-0 victory for the Saints, the road team averaged 30.7 points in the previous nine matchups.
While the Buccaneers only scored 19 points against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1, they’re capable of scoring more than that. Tom Brady and the offense had an off game and will look to make things right in New Orleans.
Yes, the Saints’ defense has given Brady trouble over the years, but it was less than a year ago that he threw four touchdown passes against them in a game. While the Bucs lost that game, 36-27, Tampa Bay did hit the over on this prop.
Time is running out for Brady to get some wins back from the Saints. Look for him to lead the offense to success in what could be a high-scoring affair.
Both Teams to Score 1+ Touchdown in Each Half: Yes (+186)
Scoring touchdowns is one of the toughest things to do in football. Fortunately, the Bucs and Saints don’t seem to have that issue when they meet.
In the last 10 Bucs vs. Saints matchups, the rivals have both scored at least one touchdown in each half in eight of those meetings. The only outliers were the Saints’ 9-0 road victory last year, as well as their 38-3 win in November 2020.
The Saints found the end zone one each half of their Week 1 matchup, which bodes well for this prop. While the Buccaneers couldn’t do the same in their victory, you can never count out a Brady-led offense, especially when playmakers like Mike Evans and Leonard Fournette are involved.
Best Bucs vs. Saints Player Props
All player props and team prop bets are via Bovada Sportsbook (unless stated otherwise) as of Friday, Sept. 16 at 9:02 a.m. ET.
Player to Score a Touchdown: Michael Thomas (+195)
Due to an ankle injury, Saints wideout Michael Thomas hasn’t faced the Buccaneers in the regular season since November 2020. He’s fully healthy now and will look to make an impact by scoring a touchdown this week.
Fortunately, the odds of doing so look good. While Thomas only has four career touchdowns in nine career games against New Orleans, each of those scores has come in the last six meetings. Furthermore, three of them came in home games for the Saints.
Even if Tampa Bay’s defense is solid, Thomas is coming off a two-touchdown performance in Week 1. He’s clearly beginning to field like his old self and with the stakes upped because of it being a rivalry game, I expect Thomas to do everything in his power to make his presence felt.
Tom Brady Passing Yards: Under 277.5 (-131)
Tom Brady is, arguably, the greatest quarterback to have played the game, accomplishing unfathomable success over his historic career. Unfortunately, the Saints are a team that’s always given him trouble.
In fact, things have only gotten worse since Brady joined the Bucs. Including the playoffs, TB12 has faced New Orleans five times in a Tampa Bay jersey. During that stretch, he’s only averaged 247.2 — nearly 20 yards below his career average.
He’s also only hit the over on this prop once in those five meetings, finishing with 239 or fewer passing yards in the other four contests.
I like Brady and I think that the Bucs’ offense can do some damage. However, the receiving room is banged up, making it more likely that it’ll be a run-first game. Add that to Brady’s struggles against the Saints and I predict it’s more likely for him to finish with under 277.5 passing yards.
