Bengals vs. Ravens Analysis & Breakdown
It’s Thursday night and we’ve got Thursday Night Football on the docket. I know it’s Primetime unders but with the Bengals and Ravens playing in the 2nd of their two meetings, we could see another shootout.
These two division rivals met back Week 5 and combined for 79 points, 962 total yards and 10 total touchdowns. Joe Burrow’s got a 1-5 record against Lamar Jackson in his career and both teams have combined for 50 or more points in 4 of those 6 games.
Both teams are coming into this game off a big win, now playing on a short week against a division rival.
“Thats my Quarterback…”
Lamar Jackson’s recorded a 120.7 QBR through 9 weeks, throwing 20 touchdowns and just 2 interceptions. He’s done a great job of putting up points, limiting turnovers and he’s done it with more than just his arm.
Jackson’s averaging 56 rush yards per game, and he’s recorded 2 rushing touchdowns on the year. His completion percentage is at a career-high 68% and Lamar’s only been sacked 13 times this season.
Both quarterbacks in this matchup have been elite this year. Despite a 4-5 record, Joe Burrow’s been great. He’s also thrown 20 touchdown passes on the year, with just 4 interceptions and he’s completing 70% of his passes.
The Bengals have been hit with multiple injuries to their offense (Tee Higgins/Zack Moss) but Burrow continues to put up numbers. Last week Burrow threw the ball 39 times, threw 5 touchdowns and completed 69% of his passes.
The last time he recorded 5 touchdowns was in Week 5 against the Baltimore Ravens. He completed 76% of his passes and threw the ball 39 times. The Ravens are giving up 281 pass yards per game (32nd) and have given up 17 passing touchdowns on the year.
Mark Andrews ATTD (+220) via BetOnline – Get a $500 WELCOME BONUS
The Baltimore Ravens passing offense has been firing on all cylinders, despite Mark Andrews having a bit of an up and down season. Andrews is averaging just 3.2 targets per game and averaging under 3 receptions per contest.
He was Lamar’s favorite target over the last few seasons and he quickly became one of the NFL’s best tight ends.
Baltimore loves using their tight ends, no pun intended. When they get down into the red zone, no one is targeting the tight end position more than the Ravens. Mark Andrews has just 29 total targets on the season, 21 of those targets came over the L5 weeks.
In that same span of time, he’s seen 7 targets in the red zone, with his teammate Likely getting 7 red zone targets of his own; while the Ravens’ wideouts saw just 4 total targets from within 20.
The Bengals 27th in opponent red zone conversion rate (68%) and that’s jumped to 75% over their L3 games. Lamar threw all 4 of his passing touchdowns in Week 5 from inside the red zone, and tonight with Likely on the sideline, it’ll be Andrews who should see a bulk of the targets.

Ja’Marr Chase o83.5 Receiving Yards (-110) via BetOnline – Get a $500 WELCOME BONUS
Ja’Marr Chase loves playing the Baltimore Ravens. He’s played the Ravens 7 times in his career, Chase averaged 10.3 targets per game and caught 6.7 of those targets.
This year, Chase recorded 10 catches on 12 targets for 193 yards and 2 touchdowns, against this same Ravens’ secondary. This year’s Raven’s defense has been the softest Ja’Marr’s ever seen them.
Back in Week 5, Tee Higgins was still in the Bengals lineup; he saw 14 targets, caught 9 and scored 2 touchdowns of his own. Those 14 targets are going somewhere and I’d bet Chase sees about 50% of them.
The Ravens rank last in pass yards allowed and last in receiving yards allowed to opposing wideouts. They haven’t been able to stop anyone, let alone Ja’Marr Chase.
It’s do or die for the Bengals every week now, look for their big guns to come out firing.
