Bet: Northern Illinois Moneyline (-120) on BetOnline
The Huskies head to Kalamazoo this week with a chip on their shoulder, looking for revenge after a brutal loss to Ball State. Northern Illinois turned the ball over four times last week—twice through the air and twice on the ground. That kind of sloppy play is uncharacteristic for a team this talented, especially against a Ball State squad that is one of the worst in the MAC. For perspective, Ball State ranks seventh-worst in total yards allowed per game and eighth-worst in points allowed. Simply put, they do not play defense.
Meanwhile, Western Michigan is coming off a dominant 52-21 win over Kent State, another MAC team that doesn’t know how to defend. The Broncos were 19-point favorites in that one, and while the win was impressive, it came against a team that’s clearly struggling.
This game sets up as the perfect “get right” spot for Northern Illinois after back-to-back tough losses. The Huskies are too talented to let a performance like last week’s define them. If they can execute their tough, hard-nosed defense—one that limits teams to under 20 points per game and keeps them under 275 total yards—they should have no trouble dominating Western Michigan. The Broncos’ defense has been struggling, ranking 121st in yards allowed and 115th in points allowed. The Huskies need to come out strong and take control from the get-go.

Bet: Parker Navarro Over 196.5 Pass Yards (-114) on BetOnline
It’s that time to take advantage of a MAC defense that simply can’t stop the pass. Today, we’re looking at Kent State’s defense, and Parker Navarro’s passing yards prop is where we’re putting our focus in this classic MAC showdown.
Kent State ranks as the eighth-worst team in the nation when it comes to defending the pass, allowing over 280 passing yards per game. At home, they do tighten up slightly, giving up 214 yards per game—but I’m not buying it. At home this season, Kent State has faced St. Francis (PA), an FCS opponent, and still allowed 195 passing yards. They also gave up 213 yards to Eastern Michigan and 215 to Ball State. In two of their three home games, the visiting team has surpassed the 196.5 passing yards mark.
On the other side, Parker Navarro has been playing some outstanding football for Ohio, passing for over 1,200 yards and completing 66% of his throws. While he’s gone over this prop in just three of seven games this season, he’s coming off a solid performance against Buffalo, where he threw for more than 230 yards. Buffalo ranks 16 spots ahead of Kent State in pass defense, which makes this matchup even more favorable for Navarro.
With Kent State struggling to defend both the pass and the run, Ohio’s offense should have plenty of opportunities to move the ball. Hopefully, the Bobcats will air it out early and often to cash in on this prop.
