Washington State vs Boise State Predictions
The Stank:
After another emotional win, the Washington State Cougars are back on my radar in week 5. Following their victory over Washington in the Apple Cup, the Cougars rallied in the fourth quarter, scoring 22 points to force double overtime and defeat San Jose State 54-52. The Washington State faithful celebrated by storming the field after defeating an unranked opponent.
*Sigh* Why?
🤣🤣🤣FADE THE STORM🤣🤣🤣 https://t.co/jzQSLyrr03

The Cougars were favored by two touchdowns against San Jose State—so why storm the field after a double overtime game they nearly lost? This creates a prime letdown spot for Washington State in week 5. Now, after back-to-back emotional wins, they must travel to Boise, setting them up for potential regression and exhaustion.
On the other side, the Boise State Broncos are coming off a 56-14 victory over Portland State. While they didn’t cover the massive 42.5-point spread, they still posted impressive numbers, racking up 609 total yards—267 passing and 342 rushing. Boise State averaged nearly a first down per play at 9.2 yards.
This season, Boise State has one of the top rushing attacks in the country, averaging nearly 300 yards per game (296 rushing yards). This will be the best ground game the Cougars have faced all season, and I believe Boise State will run right through Washington State and spoil their two-week celebration. A letdown is imminent for the Cougars.
