Stanford vs Syracuse Predictions
The Stank:
Who doesn’t love Friday night lights? We’ve got a classic ACC matchup between Stanford and Syracuse.
Let’s get to the point: I think this line is way too high for a team that hasn’t had to worry about much outside of the playbook. Stanford’s fall quarter doesn’t start until Monday, so these players are fully focused on football until then. People often forget that these student-athletes juggle academics alongside the game.
As for Syracuse, I’m not worried at all. Sure, they beat Georgia Tech as three-point underdogs, but that was on American soil. The Yellow Jackets only looked strong in Dublin against a struggling Seminoles team. They also failed to cover 17 points against Ohio, allowing over 250 yards on the ground. Meanwhile, Stanford has averaged 121 rushing yards in the first few weeks. I believe Stanford’s ground game will keep them competitive.
Yes, Stanford has to travel across the country, which is no small feat. But if their primary focus is football and not other distractions, I don’t think the travel will be a major issue.
Prediction: Syracuse Wins
