After three straight games on the road, the Louisville Cardinals are finally back home to take on the Pittsburgh Panthers. During that road stretch, Louisville went 2-1 straight up and 1-2 against the spread, capped off by a brutal 38-35 loss to Stanford as 21-point favorites. Disgusting, right? But what do you expect from a team that had to travel to Boston College, then Clemson, then Stanford—all within a month. Even with a bye week in between, the grind clearly caught up to them. Now, it’s Week 13, and Louisville should be ready to bounce back.
On the other side, Pitt is coming off a frustrating loss to Clemson—a game they probably should’ve won but completely imploded in the red zone. Instead of capitalizing on scoring opportunities, the Panthers repeatedly settled for field goals. Yes, they covered the 10-point spread, but they were sloppy throughout and never really felt in control.
I grabbed Louisville at -6.5 Saturday night, expecting the Cardinals to win by double digits. Back at home, refreshed, and motivated, they should handle Pitt. Let’s be real: Pitt isn’t that good. Sure, they have been ranked, but who have they really played? SMU? Clemson? Louisville has played those teams too, while also playing Notre Dame and Miami. The Cardinals have been tested. Pitt’s offense won’t be able to keep pace with a Louisville unit averaging nearly 40 points per game, especially with the Panthers giving up over 30 points per game on the road.
This will be an interesting matchup to gauge where these teams stand, but in the end, Louisville takes care of business at home. They need this one.
