The SEC is giving us a Top 25 Showdown in College Station to kick off our college football Saturday as the Missouri Tigers head down to take on the Texas A&M Aggies. The Tigers find themselves ranked inside the Top 10 after starting off the season 4-0. They shutout their first two opponents, taking down Murray State and Buffalo, 51-0 and 38-0. Then Missouri hosted a feisty Boston College team that was also starting hot.
Despite falling down 14-3 early, the Tigers rallied and beat the Golden Eagles at home, 27-21. Next they faced Vanderbilt in their fist SEC contest, and the Commodores put up more of a fight than anyone expected. It took two overtime periods, but Missouri squeaked out a win, beating Vandy 30-27. Now the Tigers face another Top 25 opponent, and they do so in their first road game of the year.
The Aggies have already dropped a game this season, their opening thriller to Notre Dame at Kyle Field. That’s it. Texas A&M doesn’t plan on losing another game this year, certainly not at home, and I think they come out firing against Missouri. After losing to the Irish, Texas A&M have won 4 straight games. They blew out McNeese, handled business in the Swamp against the Gators, took down Bowling Green, and found a late win against Arkansas last Saturday. Marcel Reed has taken over at QB1, and he’s doing a solid job of leading the Aggies offense so far.
Can he do it again at home against a Top 10 opponent? Or will Missouri go into College Station and steal a win from the Aggies?

Tigers and Aggies Face Off in College Station
What immediately stands out to me is these teams’ schedules. While Missouri doesn’t have the toughest matchup next week, they do have to travel to UMASS to take on the Minutemen. Should it be an easy win? Absolutely. But it’s still looming over their heads on Saturday. Texas A&M is rolling into a bye after this game. Once the clock hits zero around 2:30pm central on Saturday, the Aggies football team is off for a couple weeks. They don’t have to travel back to campus, they get to go immediately back to their homes and start relaxing and enjoying their time off, after a hard fought win of course.
I believe Texas A&M gives it everything they have on Saturday. The full force of the Aggies defense is going to come alive in order to slow down Brady Cook, Nate Noel and the rest of the Tigers’ offense. This A&M defense is very, very good. I’ve been preaching that all season long.
They are allowing just 18 points per game and less than 350 total yards. While the Aggies’ offense still has plenty of question marks in my eyes, their defense does not. They are rock solid, one of the best groups in the SEC, and I think they are up for the challenge of slowing down Missouri this weekend. When capping this game, I wanted to take A&M’s offense out of the equation completely, and thus removed Missouri’s defense as well. I slightly lean with the under, but understand that the Tigers’ defense had trouble stopping Vanderbilt and Boston College. If Marcel Reed is in his bag, the Aggies could move the ball in bunches on Saturday.
However, here is how I will be placing my coin in this matchup.
Missouri vs Texas A&M Best Bets
Missouri vs Texas A&M Prediction: Texas A&M Wins & Covers, Under 48.5
Best Bets: Missouri TT Under 23.5 (-110) Bovada
Taking the Aggies’ offense out of the equation was successful as we bet on the Tiger’s Team Total under 23.5. Nobody has scored this many points on the Aggies all season long, with Notre Dame putting up 23 in a dog fight. While Missouri blew out this number in their first two games and have gone over in all 4, they really haven’t played a good defense. Boston College and Vanderbilt may compare to Texas A&M offensively, but they are not even close on the other side of the ball.
Against Vanderbilt, the Tigers only scored 20 points in 4 quarters, needing overtime to score their other 10. I see the Aggies defense being more than capable of slowing down Missouri, holding them to field goals, or forcing them to punt all together. This is true “show me spot” for the Show Me State university. As this is the Tigers’ first road game this season, I expect there to be plenty sluggishness in the offense early in the game. Kyle Field is a very hostile environment, and I’m sure the Aggie Faithful will give the Tigers a warm welcome, rooting on the home defense to rip out their throats.
