In this Week 7 college football matchup, we’re fading the Minnesota Gophers fresh off their massive upset over No. 11 USC. As history shows, teams often come crashing down after an emotional victory, and we’re betting that trend continues. Meanwhile, UCLA is battle-tested, having faced a brutal three-game stretch against top-tier programs. Find out why the Bruins are primed to capitalize in this “fade the storm” spot.

Minnesota vs. UCLA Predictions
The third and final system play for Week 7 of college football: the Minnesota Gophers, fresh off a huge 24-17 win over No. 11 USC. As an unranked home team, the Minnesota faithful stormed the field in celebration, as they should. However, like every storm, it comes with a price. Enter Colby Marchio, who has to automatically fade you in your very next game. And that’s exactly what we’re doing in this write-up.

The play here is UCLA, coming off a 27-11 loss to Penn State in Happy Valley. The Bruins have just been through a gauntlet the past three weeks, starting in Baton Rouge, then back home against Oregon, and finally at Penn State. That’s a brutal stretch against three teams now ranked in the top 15, two inside the top five. While they went 0-3 SU during that stretch, UCLA covered the spread in every matchup. As the saying goes, “Good teams win, great teams cover.”
Now, UCLA returns home to face a Gophers team coming down from the highest of highs. With how well the Bruins have stood their ground against elite competition, I think they can do some damage here. Minnesota is allowing 27 points per game on the road and hasn’t faced the caliber of opponents UCLA has all season.
The Gophers’ toughest games this year? Michigan, a team that struggles to throw the ball and is teetering on the edge of the rankings, and USC, whom they just upset and is now unranked.
I’ll take the Bruins in this “fade the storm” spot.
