Michigan State got the big win last week against Michigan, coming back in the second half to stun the Wolverines. Thanks to the win, the 8-0 Spartans were ranked third in Tuesday’s College Football Playoff rankings. Now they have to get by Purdue, a team that has shown flashes this season.
Purdue’s big win this season was pulling Iowa from the ranks of the unbeaten last month. Can they do it again to Michigan State?
The short line on this one is saying the markets are still not sold on Michigan State being one of the best teams in college football. That could be an opportunity though.

Michigan State Spartans vs Purdue Boilermakers Best Bet
Michigan State -2.5
The Spartans got the massive win last week over Big Blue with running back Kenneth Walker III making a huge Heisman statement. I am surprised there is not more being made of the fact that he was at Wake Forest last season and both his current and former teams are undefeated.
Michigan State has a good offense and definitely has that “it” factor too this season. The defense was roughed up a little last week, but they made big plays when they had to by forcing turnovers that enabled them to catch up and seal the win. MSU is just tough.
Purdue has had a fascinating season, with wins over Iowa and Oregon State, who is a surprising 5-3. Still, it is hard to know what you are going to get as they needed three second-half Nebraska interceptions to get the win last week. They have an odd statistical profile too. They are 16th in the nation in passing but average just 22 points per game, which is in the 100s. On defense, they give up only 17 points per game. That has kept them in some games even if they don’t appear to have an elite defense.
The Spartans should have success running the ball and be able to hit a few big plays throwing the ball. More importantly, if they protect the ball they should have success. Don’t get caught up thinking they are like Iowa and that Purdue can do what they did that game. They are so much better than the Hawkeyes on offense, especially at QB, and their defense is good.
Michigan State vs Purdue College Football Score Prediction
