See Picks & Statistics For The GameWith bowl games and the College Football Playoff semifinals and championship game to come (as well as the FCS playoffs), there’s a lot of college football to look forward to over the next month. But first, the curtain must be closed on the FBS regular season with the 124th edition of the Army-Navy Game, which is set for this Saturday at Gillette Stadium (3:00 pm ET, CBS).
Due to bowl pairings already being announced, Saturday’s game in Foxboro will be the season finale for both teams, even though the winner will finish with six wins.
That, of course, take away any of the importance of the matchup between the Black Knights (5-6) and Midshipmen (5-6), who will be conference foes starting next season with Army leaving the independent ranks to join Navy in the American Athletic Conference, though this contest will remain a non-conference matchup.
Bet on Army vs Navy at BetOnline
The Midshipmen have a sizable all-time head-to-head edge over the Black Knights, but after Navy reeled off 14 straight in the rivalry from 2002 to 2015, Army has had the edge in recent years, winning five of the last seven meetings.
Will they make it six in eight, or will Navy’s first season under head coach Brian Newberry end with a memorable victory? The Black Knights are favored by a field goal, which is the margin they won by in last season’s game in Philadelphia.

Army Looks to Secure Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy With Navy Win
After winning 52 games and appearing in five bowl games (with four wins) in a six-year stretch from 2016 to 2021, Army will miss out on a bowl game for the second straight season even if they win on Saturday.
But they do have a chance to end the season on a high note and with some hardware. Thanks to a 23-3 win over Air Force on November 4, the Black Knights will win the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy outright for the tenth time if they can defeat the Midshipmen.
That upset of the Falcons, who were ranked 17th in the AP poll at the time, was the start of a three-game win streak that the Black Knights will carry into their season-ending rivalry showdown.
Army’s 2-6 start featured surprising losses to Louisiana-Monroe and UMass, as well as a tough last-minute loss to Boston College, who they were favored to beat.
But the loss to UMass must have flipped a switch, as the Black Knights have been solid down the stretch. Along with the win over Air Force, Army took down Coastal Carolina 28-21 last time out. In between those two wins, they edged Holy Cross, who nearly upset Boston College in September.
Last season, Army averaged 289.4 rushing yards per game, which was second in the FBS. This season, the Black Knights are averaging only 209.0 YPG, which is tenth in the FBS.
But they are coming off of an outstanding performance on the ground, as they racked up 365 rushing yards against Coastal Carolina. Tyson Riley, who had three carries for seven yards entering the game, had 112 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. Also, quarterback Bryson Daily, who had 170 yards in the win over Air Force, ran for 94 yards and a score.
Army vs Navy Football Prediction and Best Bets
Prediction: Army to win
Best Bets: Army ML & Army team total over 14.5 points
I like the momentum Army has going into this matchup, and I think they will make it six wins in eight games against Navy.
Another lower-scoring contest is likely to occur, but since Navy’s 11-7 win in 1970, the winner of this game has failed to score 15 or more points only twice (there was a 3-3 tie in 1981). Army won 14-13 in 1995, and they won by the same scoreline six years ago.
It’s a risky move perhaps, but I like the percentages here, especially when you consider that Army have scored 15+ points in each of their last 20 wins, dating back to a 10-7 win over Air Force three years ago.
