The No. 6 Ohio State Buckeyes host the No. 7 Tennessee Volunteers in what could be the most intriguing first-round matchup of the College Football Playoffs. While many are already penciling Ohio State into a second-round rematch with Oregon, Tennessee enters with something to prove after a strong season that has been largely overlooked. This clash features two powerhouse programs with contrasting styles and plenty of storylines, setting the stage for an unforgettable showdown.

#7 Tennessee vs #6 Ohio State Bet
Arguably my favorite matchup in the first round of the College Football Playoffs: the No. 6 Ohio State Buckeyes host the No. 7 Tennessee Volunteers. Many have written off the Vols due to the potential Ohio State-Oregon rematch in the second round, which is a huge show of disrespect to a Tennessee team that has built an incredible résumé this season.
Yes, Tennessee had tough losses to Arkansas and Georgia. But have we all forgotten how hyped up this team was at the start of the year? One loss shifted the spotlight, but this team has not gone anywhere. Aside from those two setbacks, the Vols have won by double digits in eight of their 12 games. They kept it close against Florida and then-No. 7 Alabama. This season, Tennessee is ranked 18th in total yards, 6th in total yards allowed, 15th in points scored, and 4th in points allowed per game.
Now they face a cocky Ohio State team that has fallen short multiple times this season, notably against Oregon and Michigan. To say Ohio State is not looking ahead to Oregon in the second round is absurd. It is absolutely on their minds—and everyone else’s. Not mine. I believe the Volunteers have the better coach, quarterback, and team to advance to the second round and take down the Ducks.
Tennessee’s head coach has repeatedly proven he can win big games on the road. Expect the Vols to come out with a massive chip on their shoulders.
Cue up Rocky Top. This one is for the VOLS.
