The Atlantic Coast Conference, better known as the ACC, is made up of 2 divisions within its football conference. The winners of each division play for the ACC Championship at the end of the season prior to Bowl Season.
Last season, Wake Forest was victorious in the Atlantic Division, and Pittsburgh made it out of the Coastal Division. Pittsburgh came up with a big 45-21 win over Wake Forest to claim the Conference Title.
The biggest shock out of the ACC last season was the slide of the Clemson Tigers. They have ruled the conference for nearly a decade, but last season they failed to make the Conference Final. This upcoming season looks more promising for Clemson as they hold a large lead in both their division and the conference.

2022 ACC Atlantic Division Predictions
Clemson has been the safe pick in the conference for the past decade. However, last season proved to be a difficult one for the team that had started to create a dynasty within college football.
Clemson went 10-3 last season, going undefeated at home, but dropping 3 of their 7 games away from Memorial Stadium. They failed to make the College Football Playoff for the first time since 2014, but things are looking up heading into 2022.
Head coach Dabo Swinney has done a great job recruiting and attracting young talent. They have the 6th best recruiting class for 2023, and their odds of making it back to the Playoff have gone up with the development of quarterback Cade Klubnik. He is the 28th ranked recruit of 2022, and he could be the next Trevor Lawrence.
The Atlantic Division doesn’t have much competition for Clemson, as they will only contend with two other teams ranked in the Top 25 within their division. NC State is the pre-season #11 team in the country, but they will have a long season before playing Clemson late in the year.
Clemson is already close to where they need to be at the end of the year. They start the season at #5 in the country, and if they play well within the ACC, they will have another College Football Playoff appearance in 2022.
2022 ACC Coastal Division Predictions
The Coastal Division is much closer, as two more teams from the Top 25 reside within its confines. Miami and Pittsburgh will be the front runners for the Division Title when football gets underway this fall.
Miami is ranked 19th in the country, while Pittsburgh just cracked the Top 25 at #25 to start the year. Pittsburgh was the ACC Champion last season, and they have been shown respect by the committee in the pre-season polls.
Pittsburgh will be without quarterback Kenny Pickett this season, as he moved on to the NFL Draft. Instead they will have 4 scholarship quarterbacks competing for the new job. The top option seems to be Kedon Slovis, who served as the backup to Pickett in 2021.
Slovis has gotten some playing time behind Pickett, and he had an 11/8 TD/INT ratio last season. It may be a step back, but Pittsburgh is in a good position with their quarterback development.
Miami seems to always be in the mix early in the year, and it is no different this season. However with the 26th toughest schedule in college football this season, their 75th ranked defense from last season will have to show improvement.
I like Pittsburgh’s spot a bit more heading into 2022. They have more offensive development, and they are the defending champions of the conference. Even though Miami is the outright favorite, don’t sleep on Pittsburgh sneaking in and claiming another division title.
Look for the Pittsburgh vs. Miami game on November 26th to close out the regular season to be the pivotal game that could determine who moves on the the ACC Championship Game.
2022 ACC Title Prediction
I would expect a Pittsburgh vs. Clemson ACC Championship game, but it’s going to be hard to bet against Clemson this year. After an off year, they will be hungrier than ever to get back to the Playoff and reclaim their throne in the ACC.
I predict Clemson as the Champion of the ACC this upcoming season. I would even go further to say they will be back in the Playoff after a one-year absence. Clemson will be a powerhouse again due to their high level of recruiting and development during the offseason.
