See Picks & Statistics For The GameNo. 16 LSU heads into Columbia, South Carolina, fresh off a strong offensive showing against Nicholls, though they didn’t completely dominate the weak FCS team. Meanwhile, South Carolina is riding high after a huge win over Kentucky in Lexington and aims to carry that momentum into Week 3 against the Tigers.
Can the Gamecocks sustain their winning streak as 6.5-point underdogs, or will LSU’s high-flying offense be too overpowering?

LSU vs South Carolina Predictions
The Stank:
The LSU Tigers haven’t had the strongest start to the season, losing their Week 1 game to USC as four-point favorites and then beating Nicholls by just 23 points as 46.5-point favorites. They’re currently 1-1 straight up and 0-2 against the spread.
However, this Week 3 matchup in South Carolina feels different. LSU was caught in a tough spot with a primetime game against USC followed by a less significant matchup against Nicholls. Despite the sluggish start, Tigers quarterback Garrett Nussmeier threw for 302 yards and six touchdowns against Nicholls. This game in Columbia, is a game worth getting out of bed for.
South Carolina is coming off a huge 25-point win over Kentucky in Lexington, where they held the Wildcats to just 44 passing yards and secured the game with a pick-six.

Interestingly, Kentucky outperformed South Carolina in the ground game, rushing for 139 yards compared to the Gamecocks’ 86. Both teams had the same number of third-down conversions and first downs, making Kentucky’s loss seem quite fluky.
I expect this game to be a bit of a letdown spot for South Carolina and a big get right spot for LSU. I love the number. You are getting an explosive offense under seven points against a team that is far less explosive. The Gamecocks should struggle keeping up with the Tigers. Even with the Tigers defense still being an issue.
