Saturday brings a clash between two SEC teams trending in opposite directions. Ole Miss comes in rested and ready after a bye, while Florida limps into this matchup following a brutal stretch of games against top-tier competition. With the Gators’ defense worn down and their quarterback less than 100%, the Rebels are primed to take full advantage.

#11 Ole Miss vs Florida Bet
Before you start thinking this is a Florida game, let me stop you right there. Yes, Ole Miss stormed the field after taking down Georgia before their bye week, but don’t let that fool you. I’ve adjusted my “fading the storm” rules—if a team storms and then heads into a bye, all bets are off. It’s not fade-able. Plus, Florida is coming off their own massive win, taking down LSU 27-16 as three-point underdogs at home. Now they’re tasked with hosting an even better team just a week later. That’s a lot to ask of the Gators.
Here is the long sell made short: Ole Miss is going to blow the doors off Florida. The Gators’ defense was on the field for 92 plays last week against LSU. They’re bound to be sluggish this weekend. And just look at their schedule over the last five weeks: at Tennessee, vs. Kentucky, at Georgia, at Texas, and vs. LSU. That is the gauntlet of all gauntlets.
The Gators’ biggest issue? Quarterback DJ Lagway isn’t at 100%. The highly touted freshman is still dealing with a hamstring injury, and if he’s not fully healthy, Florida doesn’t stand a chance of keeping up with one of the best offenses in the country.
Adding fuel to the fire are the rumors about Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin potentially leaving to coach at Florida next season, with Billy Napier likely on his way out. If those rumors are true, don’t be surprised if Kiffin uses this game to send a message and runs up the score on an exhausted Florida team.
I’ll take the team with a week of rest over the one that’s been through the ringer against every relevant team in the country.
HOTTY TODDY!
