In a week full of upsets in college basketball, one of the most notable results of the week saw San Diego State go down at New Mexico by 18 on Saturday. Tonight, the Lobos will look to pummel another ranked conference foe at The Pit as #16 Utah State visits Albuquerque (10:30 pm ET, FS1).
The Lobos (14-3, 2-2 Mountain West) were in need of a win after dropping two of their first three conference games, and they rose to the occasion in resounding fashion to send the Aztecs back home with their worst loss in almost two years (a 75-57 loss at Utah State on January 26, 2022).
Tonight, the task on their to-do list will be to end the 15-game win streak that the Aggies (16-1, 4-0 Mountain West) have been on since losing at Bradley in their second game of the season.
Utah State has won four straight true road games since that loss in Peoria, but none will be as tough as what lies ahead for them at The Pit, which is sure to be rocking after Saturday’s stunner against SDSU.

Utah State vs New Mexico Betting Analysis and Prediction
The Aggies deserve a lot of credit for their victory at UNLV, who is 8-7 but has wins over Creighton and New Mexico and took Saint Mary’s to overtime.
Utah State trailed by as many as 13 in the second half and were down by six with under two minutes left, but they pulled out the win in dramatic and rarely seen fashion.
Down 86-82 in the waning seconds, Darius Brown II hit a three, and at the same time, a foul was called away from the ball to send Great Osobor to the foul line. Osobor hit both, then the Aggies got the stop on the other end to secure the win.
I don’t think they will be able to survive tonight at The Pit, however.
New Mexico put up 88 points against San Diego State despite not shooting well from outside and missing ten free throws, and the way they blew the game open in the second half was outstanding.
You always have to be wary of a letdown in a spot like this, but I like the Lobos, who have the talent to challenge for the conference title, to use that win as a springboard for more success.
