On the road to winning the national championship last season, UConn beat all six of their March Madness opponents by 13 or more points. The biggest of those wins came in the Elite Eight against Gonzaga, who were dispatched 82-54 in the West Regional final in Las Vegas.
Tonight, the two teams meet in Seattle (10:00 pm ET, ESPN2) to tip off a huge weekend in college basketball.

The #5 Huskies (9-1) are off to a fine start this season, with their lone blemish a four-point loss at Kansas two weeks ago. Since that loss, UConn defeated North Carolina in the Jimmy V Classic and blasted Arkansas-Pine Bluff in a 38-point home win.
The tenth-ranked Bulldogs (8-2) are also off to a solid start, with their two losses coming against Purdue at the Maui Invitational and at Washington this past Saturday.
Gonzaga started well against Purdue and led by five at halftime before falling away in the second half. Will we see a more complete effort from the Bulldogs tonight in the Emerald City?

UConn vs Gonzaga Prediction and Picks
Prediction: UConn to win
Simply put, I know more about how good UConn is than I know about how good Gonzaga is (or isn’t). The Huskies have endured roster turnover from last season and the early loss of Castle, who returned last week after missing six games with a knee injury, to show early on that a title repeat is very much a possibility.
Gonzaga has wins over UCLA and USC, which are good wins even though the two teams are just 10-7 combined. And their performance in most of the first 30 minutes against Zach Edey and the Boilermakers showed some real potential.
But the end of that game and the loss to Washington, in which they led 57-46 with 15 minutes left but were outscored 32-16 the rest of the way, are two notable negative marks against the Bulldogs.
I don’t think UConn will blow them away like they did in March, but I don’t think the Bulldogs are quite where the Huskies are yet, and it will show when it matters.
