On this lovely Tuesday, we’re diving into two of our best bets by targeting teams fresh off major wins in their last games. Both Fordham and UIC pulled off impressive upsets, but that momentum might not carry over tonight. Let’s break down why Tuesday’s best bets are all about fading these recent upsets.

Bet: Northwestern (-15) on BetOnline
The first team coming off a major upset win is the UIC Flames, who took down Yale—one of the Ivy League’s top programs—91-79 as six-point underdogs. Yale has been a powerhouse in their conference for years, making this a huge win for a UIC squad that hasn’t seen much relevance in a while. Now, the Flames head north to face Northwestern.
The Wildcats, meanwhile, are coming off a tough 71-66 loss to Dayton, despite being four-point road favorites. They shot 44% from the floor and 25% from three in that game—not their night. This came right after they dominated Lehigh 90-46, shooting 54% from the floor and 45% from deep, so a little regression was likely. Tonight, however, looks like the perfect opportunity for Northwestern to get back on track.
UIC ranks 174th in offensive efficiency and 128th in defensive efficiency, while Northwestern is a defensive powerhouse, ranked 13th in defense and 39th in offense. The Wildcats are also the 19th slowest-paced team in the country, which should disrupt UIC’s quicker tempo. I’m taking Chicago’s Big Ten team on the spread!
Binghamton vs Fordham

Bet: Binghamton (+14.5) on BetOnline
The second team coming off a big win is Fordham, who just upset Seton Hall 57-56 on a buzzer-beater as 10-point underdogs. Now 1-1, the Rams are set to host the Binghamton Bearcats, who arrive on the heels of two blowout losses—by 24+ points each—to Miami and Penn State. Those tough games could end up benefiting the Bearcats, as they’re now prepared to face a more evenly matched opponent, while Fordham is coming off an emotional high.
Binghamton brings back their leading scorer, Tymu Chenery, who averaged 14.9 points, five rebounds, and 1.5 blocks last season. Chenery was also the only returning player who shot above 30% from deep. Joining him are two strong transfers: former Houston Christian guard Dominic Capriotti, who shot 38.5% from three with 7.5 points per game, and former Stonehill guard Jackson Benigni, who averaged 11.3 points per game on 32.1% shooting from beyond the arc in the NEC last season. These new additions could help the Bearcats build off last year’s momentum, which saw them finish at .500 for the first time since the Yankees last won the World Series.
Fordham, on the other hand, had to replace much of their roster in the offseason, returning only two players who shot over 29% from three. This win over Seton Hall feels more like a fluke than a signal of strength. Early in the season, when teams are still finding their footing, fading a team that just pulled a major upset is often a smart play. Binghamton’s tough opening schedule against two top-75 teams should have them battle-tested and ready. I’ll take the Bearcats and the points here.
