Texas controls its destiny for the Big 12 regular season title, but a loss today at Baylor (2:00 pm ET, ESPN) could leave them needing some help to make their season finale against Kansas a meaningful matchup.
The #8 Longhorns (22-6, 11-4 Big 12) are tied with #3 Kansas (23-5, 11-4 Big 12) atop the conference standings with three games left for both teams, the last of which is a head-to-head matchup in Austin next Saturday.
The drama could very well end before Saturday, if Texas fails to win today in Waco and on Wednesday at TCU (9:00 pm ET, ESPN2) and Kansas beats West Virginia and Texas Tech at home.
Will the Longhorns remain in control of their destiny after today? Read on for our Texas vs Baylor basketball prediction and picks.

Bears Seek Sixth Straight Home Win Over Longhorns
If Texas can take the win in Waco, it will be their first there since a 67-59 victory on February 1, 2016.
Since then, the Bears have won five straight at home against the Longhorns, including an 80-63 triumph last season.
There isn’t much to help foster a positive forecast for Texas today, wherever you may look. Sure, the ‘Horns won at Kansas State three weeks ago, but such good wins are hard to find otherwise.
This season, Texas has six wins over ranked teams, but the win in Manhattan is the only one that has come on the road. They have had four other chances to add to that tally, but they lost by 11 at Iowa State, by 11 at Tennessee, by eight at Kansas, and by seven at Texas Tech.
The ‘Horns have not been in the underdog role often this season, as this will be just the fifth time all season, with every instance coming on the road. And the results have not been pleasant, with a 69-66 win at West Virginia as a one-point underdog the lone SU and ATS win in the bunch.
Also, Baylor has been pretty darn good at home since losing back-to-back home games to TCU and Kansas State last month. They have played five conference games at home since those two losses, and they have won and covered in all five.
Texas vs Baylor Prediction and Picks
Longhorns vs Bears Prediction: Baylor to win
Longhorns vs Bears Picks: Baylor -3.5 & Baylor team total over 75.5 (BetOnline)
Baylor enters this matchup having lost by double digits at both Kansas and Kansas State in their last two games.
But just like ugly road defeats at Northwestern and Wisconsin don’t dissuade me from backing Iowa against Michigan State today due to how good the Hawkeyes have been at home, the same can be said for Baylor here.
