Over in South Loop, Chicago, the DePaul Blue Demons host the St. John’s Red Storm. This will be the second and final time these two face off in the regular season. The first meeting between these two came back on February 6th, when the Johnnies won by nearly 30 points. Almost a month later, the Blue Demons look to get their revenge at home, while St. John’s is looking to finish their regular season on a high note heading into the Big East Tournament.
Can the Blue Demons come out with their first conference win of the season as 17.5-point underdogs? Probably not, but never say die when it comes to any college sports unless it is pertaining to DePaul basketball.

The Stank:
My apologies to all of the DePaul alums for this one. It’s the Johnnies.
DePaul is a joke. The Blue Demons are ranked 311 on KenPom; they are the laughingstock of the Big East. Defensively, they are the 3rd worst in effective field goal percentage. They are allowing the 9th most points per game (81.7 PPG). Against the spread this season, the Blue Demons have only covered 9 of their 29 games.

Meanwhile, the Johnnies have been on a heater, winning three straight. Their most notable win during that streak was beating Creighton in Madison Square Garden on February 25th. In their most recent game, they steamrolled Butler by 23 points in Hinkle Fieldhouse. Now, they are going up against a DePaul squad that lost to Butler on Saturday by 19.
Over the past month, BartTorvik has St. John’s ranked 17th. They have been flawless. The biggest issue for them at the moment is getting to the line. Outside of that, they are in the top 35 in offense and defense. They are 13th in offensive rebound percentage, so they are all over those second-chance points.
The Johnnies should have no issue Tuesday night in Wintrust Arena. Look out for Rick Pitino if he is wearing his infamous all-white suit. Johnnies by 30.

Where to find more advanced analytics
If you are looking for advanced analytic websites for college basketball Bart Torvik and Haslametrics are my favorite two. They are free and very informative. Ken Pom is another great resource, but sadly you have to pay.
Remember, these are mostly used as a crutch. Do not let these be the end all be all to making wagers. They are not always right with their predictions. Use your plums, trust your gut, and remember you cannot win them all. If you have any questions my socials are below I am always free to discuss anything college hoops. Especially, if it is over a game that will have under 23 people in attendance.

It does not matter the dog, he loves them all.
