Will Yale Light Up the Scoreboard Against Princeton for the Third Time This Season?
Yale and Princeton both finished the regular season at 10-4 in Ivy League play, but the Bulldogs claimed the top seed for the conference tournament by virtue of a sweep in their two head-to-head matchups.
The Bulldogs are the best defensive team in the Ivy League but won both meetings with offense. In the home matchup on January 28, Yale claimed an 87-65 win, then on February 18, they won 93-83 in overtime at Princeton.
Since starting 1-3 in Ivy League play, the Bulldogs are 10-1 SU and 8-2-1 ATS. And in that 11-game stretch, Yale is averaging 79.5 PPG and has won seven games by double digits, which includes their two wins over Princeton.
Princeton has been solid offensively as well in positioning themselves for a first NCAA Tournament trip since 2017, as the Tigers have scored 75 or more points in seven of their last eight games, a stretch in which they are 6-2 SU and ATS.
But they might need one of their best all-around performances of the season to snatch Ivy League supremacy from Yale.
The Bulldogs have dominated the head-to-head series in recent years, going 10-1 SU and 8-3-0 ATS against the Tigers in the last 11 meetings. Since Princeton’s lone win in that period, an 81-75 win at Yale last season, the Bulldogs have won the last three meetings, including last year’s tournament title tilt.
Notably, the over has had the edge in these recent matchups as well. In those last 11 games, the over is 7-4-0, with both meetings this season going well over.
