College basketball is full of chaos, and sometimes, you have to embrace the madness. Logic does not always apply, and in this case, I am riding with pure spite. Omaha’s streak, their social media antics, and their bizarre trash-can celebration have all led me to one conclusion—South Dakota must end this run.

SPITE BET ALERT!!!
Why is it a spite bet? This may be my most psychotic write-up of the season. However, Omaha is on a nine-game winning streak. Their social media team has been on a posting frenzy. Personally, I do not follow their accounts, but I keep seeing them, and I do not need to. There was a video of their head coach beating the brakes off a trash can after a win. This is now their victory celebration, and this Saturday, they are having a “Bring Your Can Day” for their game against Denver. I have to fade. That is how this idiotic mind works.

This game is going to be a track meet. Both teams love to sprint, especially South Dakota, the second-fastest team in the country, per Haslametrics. Neither team plays exceptional defense, so this will be a battle of who can score the other to death.
South Dakota, at home this season, has the 59th-best offense, excelling at getting to the free-throw line (2nd in the country), scoring inside, and protecting the basketball. Omaha struggles with sending opponents to the line, ranking 289th away from home. The Coyotes will exploit this all game long.
The biggest concern for the Coyotes is how well the Mavericks shoot the three, ranking 23rd in the country in three-point percentage away from home. This is a team that lives and dies by the deep ball. South Dakota has struggled defending the perimeter, ranking 319th at home this season. If the Coyotes can lock down the three, they should be able to snap the Mavericks’ nine-game winning streak.
Score them to death, South Dakota!
