NCAA Basketball Best Bets – December 3rd, 2024
Western Michigan vs Dayton Predictions
Best Bets: Western Michigan/Dayton Under 145 (-115) BetOnline
Starting off early, we have got ourselves an under on the betting board. The Flyers are coming off an iffy showing in the Maui. After giving up 92 points to North Carolina and 89 points to Iowa State, Dayton beat down UConn in the 7th place matchup, holding the two time defending champs to just 67 points.
While the Flyers offense has been good, they play incredibly slow basketball. Defense is their bread and butter, ranking 66th in Adjusted Defensive Efficiency and 12th in offensive rebounds allowed. After giving up a ton of points in Maui, I expect Dayton to focus on defense in a couple of tune up games at home before hosting Marquette in a couple of weeks.
The Broncos are just as slow as the Flyers, and they have absolutely zero offense. They are 334th in eFG% early in the season and hardly shoot any threes, which will make it hard to keep up. Western Michigan has been shaky all year long, with two wins over D1 opponents (ranked 243rd and 352nd) while also suffering losses to teams ranked between 234 and 275. Against a Top 50 team like Dayton, I don’t see the Broncos being able to put up their fair share of points in this matchup.
Michigan vs #11 Wisconsin Predictions
Best Bet: Wisconsin ML (-145) BetOnline
We are paying the juiceman and backing the Badgers at home in this Big 10 showdown. The Badgers are a perfect 8-0 this season with two Top 25 wins and a 3rd in the Top 85 as well. They beat Arizona by 15 at home, then went on to take down UCF and Pittsburgh. They are coming off a strong showing against Chicago State, and are primed to take on Dusty May and Michigan.
The Wolverines are 2-1 against Top 100 teams this season, but this will be their first true road game of the season. Clearly the Kohl Center is a tough place to play, just ask the Arizona Wildcats. The Badgers play much faster than they have in years past, and it sure helps them, considering their offense ranks 23rd in Offensive Efficiency and 9th in TO Rate.
The Badgers take care of the ball, they get to the free throw line over 40% of the time, and lead the nation in FT%. Wisconsin is also Top 80 in both 3P Rate and 3P%, which will certainly come into play at home. Like I said, this is Michigan’s first true road game of the season and with their new Head Coach. Both teams are in potential look ahead spots with big matchups this weekend, however I have faith in the home team to come focused and take down the Wolverines.
East Tennessee State vs James Madison Predictions
Florida State vs LSU Predictions
Best Bet: JMU/LSU ML Parlay (+161) Bovada
We’ve got a little two team parlay to end our evening, backing two home teams to simply win the game.
JMU Dukes
Starting with the Dukes, they host an East Tennessee State team, and JMU needs to strong together a couple wins. They have literally alternated winning and losing all season long, and are coming off a home loss to George Mason. JMU has typically beaten teams ranked lower than them, aside from a couple exceptions. The Dukes are Top 20 in 3P Rate while also shooting over 35% from deep, and with their offense rebounding rate, they should get plenty of extra possessions. ETSU has won four straight games, but aside from their loss to Davidson on the road, this is their toughest matchup of the year. I trust the Dukes to get the job done and win this game at home.
LSU Tigers
Pair them up with LSU and you’ve got yourself a +161 two teamer. LSU hosts Florida State. The Tigers have two Top 85 wins already, but lost to Pittsburgh on a neutral site. They are coming off a tune up game against Northwestern State, and do not have a major matchup this weekend. The Tigers are a Top 50 defense who ranks 9th in eFG%D. Florida State is a solid defensive team as well, and they like to run. Personally, I think this helps LSU who has a slightly better offense and is at home.
The Seminoles have won four straight games, are 7-1 on the year, but they have a tough scheduling spot. First off, FSU has played one team inside of the Top 115, and they lost that game to Florida by 13 at home. This will be their first road game of the year, plus, they also have to go face NC State on Saturday in Raleigh. That’s two back to back road games against Top 70 teams after playing only 1 team inside of the Top 100 all year.
This is going to be a nasty wake up call for the Seminoles against a Tigers team that has already found their groove.
